Ole Børud (born December 6, 1976) is a Norwegian singer, songwriter and instrumentalist, known both for his solo recordings and as a member of the band Extol. Børud, son of Norwegian gospel singer Arnold Børud, began performing music at age five as part of Arnold B. Family. He later started playing in hard rock and heavy metal bands, first in the two-man project Schaliach and later for Extol and, briefly, the hardcore punk band Selfmindead. Since the early 2000s, he has also recorded several solo albums featuring pop, funk, and jazz styles. In 2016, he formed a heavy metal side-project, Fleshkiller, with his former Schaliach band-mate, Peter Dalbackk, and drummer Andreas Skorpe Sjøen.

I've been a big fan of Mongo Santamaria's for many years and have a number of his sides on vinyl, tape and CD. I bought Ole Ola in vinyl and have since replaced it with the CD and it's always been part of my steady playlist. The whole album is very, very good, but my favorite tune is a composition by Ray Vega called "Now is Forever," which features a sublime Flugelhorn solo by Mr. Vega, intro'd by another very fine piano solo by Bob Quaranta. Quaranta's left hand chording adds a spacey, dreamy quality to his part as he works the melody. And make sure to listen closely to Bernie Minoso's heartbeat bass on this one, too. It adds a huge amount of soul to this somewhat minimalist, yet very beautiful and haunting number.
Features the high-fidelity SHM-CD format (compatible with standard CD player) and the latest 24bit 192kHz remastering. One of the strangest albums ever recorded for Blue Note – and one of the coolest, too! Duke Pearson recorded this set in 1969 – during the middle of his last productive period of activity, at a time when he was doing some tremendous genre-crossing jazz that really broke from his earlier styles.
Nils Økland and Sigbjørn Apeland are the first musicians to record an album at Lysøen, the Norwegian island home of iconic violinist-composer Ole Bull (1810-1880). For years they have explored Ole Bull’s musical landscapes with open minds, and found inspiration to develop their own ideas. In this recording they have chosen to emphasise the contemplative elements in Ole Bull’s music. The album presents partly the performers’ own arrangements and improvisations based on tunes that Bull performed, and partly new compositions inspired by Ole Bull.
