Happy 70th Birthday, dear Olivia!

"Clearly Love" is an album by Olivia Newton-John, released on 30 September 1975. The album's peak of #12 in the US was also something of a disappointment, considering that Newton-John's previous two albums, "If You Love Me, Let Me Know" and "Have You Never Been Mellow", had both reached #1. Nevertheless, the album did earn a Gold certification, and both of the album's singles were Top 20 country chart hits, with "Something Better to Do" reaching #19 and "Let It Shine" (written by Nashville songwriter Linda Hargrove) reaching #5. In the United Kingdom it was a different story, as neither the album nor its singles charted at all there. The market in which the album was most successful in terms of chart position was the Netherlands, where it went to #1. "Clearly Love" also did well in Japan, reaching #3 on the Oricon Albums Chart, the LP sold 110,450 there.

"Totally Hot" is Olivia Newton-John's 9th US and 10th international studio album. Released in November 1978, it became her first solo Top 10 (# 7) album since 1975's "Have You Never Been Mellow". Dressed on the album cover all in leather, Newton-John's transformation in Grease from goody-goody "Sandy 1" to spandex-clad "Sandy 2" emboldened her to do the same with her music. The album's singles "A Little More Love" (# 3 Pop, # 94 Country, # 4 AC), "Deeper Than The Night" (# 11 Pop, # 87 Country, # 4 AC), and the title track (# 52 Pop) all demonstrated a more aggressive and uptempo sound for Newton-John.

The album was produced and partly written by her long-time record producer John Farrar. Recorded and mixed at Ocean Way and David J. Holman's studio in Los Angeles, California, "Physical" became one of Newton-John's most controversial and sexual records, and her most successful studio album to date. Musically, the album features considerable use of synthesizers and it explores lyrical themes such as love and relationships, sex, kinesthetics and environmental protection. Upon its release, the album received positive reviews from music critics, many of them considering it to be Newton-John's best effort. The album charted high in several countries, including the United States, Japan and Newton-John's native Australia, becoming one of the most successful albums of the early 1980s. It also ranks among the best-selling albums by Australian solo artists, selling more than 10 million copies worldwide.

Olivia Newton-John's "The Christmas Collection" finds the singer in fine voice as she interprets some of the season's classic songs, as well as some original material, in a slightly countrified setting. Together with the London Symphony Orchestra, Kenny Loggins, Clint Black, and Vince Gill, Newton-John delivers gently festive versions of "The First Noel," "Silver Bells," "White Christmas," and "Silent Night," among others. While the original song, "Christmas Never Felt Like This Before," is nothing special, Christmas Collection is still a pleasant-enough holiday album, particularly for Newton-John fans.

She made several performances to promote "If Not For You" and her follow-up album, "Olivia", including an international tour with British singer Cliff Richard. It was her first album released by Festival Records, which would release all her albums in Australia until its dissolution in 2005. It also has Newton-John's first works with her long-time musical partner, John Farrar.

The American publication of this 1973 album by MCA Records used the cover art from Olivia's 1972 LP record "Olivia" which was not released by MCA. Some of its songs were taken for the U.S. publication, such as song titles from the British publications of the albums "If Not for You" and "Olivia". Though the title song was a commercial failure in England, it was Olivia Newton-John's first American Top 10 hit, successfully boosting her singing career in North America. She had previously charted in the Billboard Top 40 with the song "If Not for You".
