One Night Flame Beverly Evans

Frontiers Music Srl has announced the release of the first-ever live album and video from Finland’s melodic rockers One Desire, “One Night Only – Live In Helsinki”, on June 11, 2021. Fans of the band who have had the pleasure of seeing them live already know how incredible the band is in that setting, but now fans who haven’t yet had the opportunity will get to see for themselves!…

This set is one of two albums recorded by the Bill Evans Trio (with bassist Eddie Gomez and drummer Marty Morell) at Copenhagen's Montmartre on one night in 1969 but not released initially until the late '80s. Evans sounds relaxed and swinging playing his usual repertoire. All of the songs (mostly standards) have been recorded by Evans at other times but the pianist's many fans certainly will not mind hearing these "alternate" versions of such tunes as "How Deep Is the Ocean," "How My Heart Sings," "Sleepin' Bee" and a light-hearted "California Here I Come."

The material originally was broadcast on radio, but through the series of the Rose transcription disc archive – which meant better recording and preservation than most other radio material of the bop years – helping to make this album a real treasure among Bird fans in the years after his death.

One Night Lonely: a rare solo performance from Mary Chapin Carpenter, recorded with no audience at the Filene Center at Wolf Trap, in Vienna, VA. Of the performance, Carpenter shared, “Strange yet magical, those are my words to describe this feeling of being alone on this hometown stage at Wolf Trap. I am struck by the stillness of the empty seats and the lonely echo of all this space. While I miss seeing the audience and feeling that connection, I am grateful for the opportunity to play a solo show, which I haven’t done for a very long time.
