Większość historyków, zarówno starożytnych, jak i współczesnych, uważa, że bezpośrednią przyczyną II wojny punickiej było zajęcie przez Hannibala iberyjskiego miasta Saguntum w roku 219'. Data ca wyznacza początek działań wojennych, ale konflikt rozpoczął się wcześnicj (jego pierwszym etapem była I wojna punicka) i stale narastał. Nie było możliwe, by u granic ekspansywnie nastawionego Rzymu trwało w pokoju i dobrobycie wrogie wobec niego państwo. Konflikt był nieuchronny, szczególnie na terenie Hiszpanii, gdzie nakładały się interesy obu państw. Chociaż wiele wskazuje na to, że ani Kartagina, ani Rzym nie podejmowały specjalnych przygotowań do wojny oraz nie zamierzały jej sprowokować, upadek Saguntum zwiększył napięcie w ich wzajemnych stosunkach. Postawiono sobie pytanie, kto będzie kontrolował zachodnie wybrzeże Morza Śródziemnego i szukano na nie odpowiedzi. Ponieważ nic można jej było otrzymać na drodze dyplomatycznej, wojna była nieunikniona. Strategia obrana przez Hannibala na początku kampanii była tak śmiała, a poczynania w Italii tak odważne, że Rzym znalazł się na krawędzi upadku. Gdy uświadomimy sobie, jak blisko katastrofy znalazło się państwo rzymskie, zrozumiemy, dlaczego postać kartagińskiego dowódcy tak silnie zapadła w pamięć Rzymian.

That is, until the villainous Captain Hook mistakes her for Wendy and abducts her to Never Land in an attempt to lure and capture Peter Pan. Peter Pan's quest to return Jane safely home is jeopardized until she can begin to believe in the magic of imagination.
