Logan Kane, one of jazz’s most sought-after young bassists and a prominent figure in LA’s thriving creative music scene, is proud to present Floor Plans, his first recording at the helm of an acoustic jazz quintet. Kane’s first full-length, NOPE,SCIENCE (2020), showcased his adventurous writing for nonet, while Planet Mirrors (2021) was electronic, catchy, riotously inventive, with Kane playing all instruments and singing (in the company of several guests). On Floor Plans, Kane is heard mainly on upright bass, the instrument he plays extensively as a sideman with the likes of Steve Lehman, Ari Hoenig, Becca Stevens, Justin Brown, Edward Simon and Joel Ross, to name a few. The music is imposingly dense and ambitious, with rhythmic precision and soaringly complex melodic arcs, every moment of it fired by the extraordinary players in Kane’s band.

Attending one of Aubrey’s shows is like going to the carnival and buying a ticket to the house of mirrors—one never knows what is going to be just around the corner.

In a hermetically sealed post-apocalyptic urban environment several centuries hence, Logan 5 (Michael York) and his friend Francis 7 (Richard Jordan) lead unquestioning lives of hedonism. Entertainment comes in the form of casual sexual liaisons and gladiatorial games in which those who do not wish to undergo euthanasia at the age of 30 vie for the illusory chance of continued life. As "sandmen," Logan and Francis are charged with tracking down and killing "runners" – those citizens who will submit to neither "renewal" (a peaceful death) nor "carousel" (a gladiatorial battle) when their time comes…..

In 2029 the mutant population has shrunken significantly and the X-Men have disbanded. Logan, whose power to self-heal is dwindling, has surrendered himself to alcohol and now earns a living as a chauffeur. He takes care of the ailing old Professor X whom he keeps hidden away. One day, a female stranger asks Logan to drive a girl named Laura to the Canadian border. At first he refuses, but the Professor has been waiting for a long time for her to appear. Laura possesses an extraordinary fighting prowess and is in many ways like Wolverine.

BIOSONIC's labyrinth of bio-electrical rhythmic pieces mixes with passages of deep drifting textural magnetism. Nine tracks possessed with intense fire and driving dynamism push down to the molecular level, while entrancing groovescapes inhabit new textural worlds of mind-expanding power. The music's intention is ecstasy and intensity – like the frenzied rush of red blood cells, nerve impulses or the firing of pistons – such tendencies are balanced by an undercurrent of tranquility and yearning.
