To celebrate the popular album’s 50th anniversary, The Beach Boys have overseen a remixed, remastered and expanded edition, Beach Boys’ Party! Uncovered and Unplugged, which removes the overdubbed festivities from the 12-track original album’s mix and adds 69 more songs and dialogue tracks culled from all of the band’s ‘Party!’ recording sessions. The 2CD also includes photos from the sessions, package essays by Beach Boys historians Alan Boyd and Craig Slowinski, and notes by the new edition’s producer, Mark Linett.

Prelude To Ecstasy: Acoustics And Covers features the critically acclaimed studio album, plus curated acoustic versions and covers. CD is housed in a beautiful gatefold sleeve with new artwork.

The Byrds Although they only attained the huge success of the Beatles, Rolling Stones, and the Beach Boys for a brief period in the mid-'60s, time has judged the Byrds to be nearly as influential as those groups in the long run. They were not solely responsible for devising folk-rock, but they were certainly more responsible than any other single act (Dylan included) for melding the innovations and energy of the British Invasion with the best lyrical and musical elements of contemporary folk music. The jangling, 12-string guitar sound of leader Roger McGuinn's Rickenbacker was permanently absorbed into the vocabulary of rock. They also played a vital role in pioneering psychedelic rock and country-rock, the unifying element being their angelic harmonies and restless eclecticism.

On their sixth album, Bloc Party sound as vital and vibrant as on 2005's Silent Alarm, back during the "indie sleaze" era. Their latest is also as fun and high energy as that influential debut; if this were a person, you'd be suspicious they'd had cosmetic work done. The band continues to find inspiration in New Wave and art-school punk as singer Kele Okereke's big personality—that London accent as distinct as ever—tries on different guises. You can feel the angst as he rushes the verses of "Day Drinker," its sharp, crisp drums egging on the adrenaline release.
