"Mary Wells Sings My Guy" is the fourth studio album and fifth overall album released by Motown vocalist Mary Wells. The album features her signature hit of the same name (which had already appeared on Greatest Hits earlier in the year) and the proposed singles "Whisper You Love Me Boy" and "He's the One I Love", the latter later re-recorded by Tammi Terrell during her own brief Motown tenure. It turned out to be the last studio effort Wells released for Motown as she left the label that year for 20th Century Fox Records.

It was the group's biggest selling studio album, eventually certified Double Platinum for U.S. sales. Improvising means not having to have the story come to a finite end. And prolific guitarist Mary Halvorson clearly has no intention of stopping her varied and increasingly rewarding tale. On Cloudward, she's again aided by her current sextet of talented and adventurous collaborators: trombonist Jacob Garchik, bassist Nick Dunston, drummer Tomas Fujiwara, vibraphonist Patricia Brennan, and young star trumpeter Adam O'Farrill. (Laurie Anderson also guests on violin on one track). Brennan, who often fills the textural world of keyboardist, but can also embrace distortion and never-heard-before-sounds, is particularly key to Halvorson's creative universe—which can be revelatory for listeners who embrace the sound of working without structure. Recorded in New York City at Sear Sound with engineer Chris Allen and producer John Dieterich, Cloudward's sound is clear and there's a surprising amount of separation between instruments.

Through evocative, emotionally resonant music, Goodbye, Hotel Arkada, the new LP from American harpist and composer Mary Lattimore, speaks not just for its beloved namesake — a hotel in Croatia facing renovation — but for a universal loss that is shared. Six sprawling pieces shaped by change; nothing will ever be the same, and here, the artist, evolving in synthesis, celebrates and mourns the tragedy and beauty of the ephemeral, all that is lived and lost to time. Documented and edited in uncharacteristically measured sessions over the course of two years, the material remains rooted in improvisation while glistening as the most refined and robust in Lattimore’s decade-long catalog. It finds her communing with friends, contemporaries, and longtime influences, in full stride yet slowing down to nurture songs in new ways. The cast includes Lol Tolhurst (The Cure), Meg Baird, Rachel Goswell (Slowdive), Roy Montgomery, Samara Lubelski, and Walt McClements.

A rare recording from the 60s - one that showcases two different sides of singer Mary Wells, in a mode that's different than her work for other labels! The "two sides" in the title are Mary's soul side and her more sophisticated one - the former served up in a batch of great 60s soul covers that echo with an Atlantic sound that's even harder than Mary's earlier work - the latter by a host of groovy 60s pop numbers, done with fuller arrangements, and a vocal range that really surprised us.

Following "Left Arm Blues", an octet-recording acclaimed by the public and the critics, Fabien Mary continues to deploy his talents by extending them for the first time on the scale of a large orchestra. Drawing on the seasoned Vintage Orchestra, the most Parisian of all big bands, the trumpeter embarked on an impressive writing work from which emerged an entire original repertoire, in the great tradition of large-scale jazz. In "Too Short", the swing never gets the short end of the stick!
