PAUL YOUNG is one of Britain's most respected vocalists, and a bona fide eighties pop star who enjoyed international success with singles such as Every Time You Go Away , Wherever I Lay My Hat (That's My Home) and Come Back and Stay . Renowned as a skilful interpreter of other people's work ( Love Of The Common People ), he is also a successful songwriter in his own right, penning hits such as Everything Must Change and Tomb Of Memories (with keyboardist/arranger Ian Kewley). Eight tracks appear on CD for the very first time, including cassette- only long versions, the epic nine-minute live cut of No Parlez album track Oh Women , and I'm Gonna Tear Your Playhouse Down , as remixed for the U.S. by John 'Tokes' Potoker. Paul Young's edition of Columbia/Legacy's budget-priced SUPER HITS compilation series is an inexpensive summation of Young's '80s tenure with the label. The selection focuses on his classic blue-eyed-soul singles, "Come Back and Stay," "Everytime You Go Away," and "Bite the Hand That Feeds." Also featured are several superlative covers, among them Marvin Gaye's "Wherever I Lay My Hat," The Chi-Lites' "Oh Girl," Ann Peebles' "I'm Gonna Tear Your Playhouse Down," and Young's unusual rearrangement of Joy Division's classic "Love Will Tear Us Apart."

Few vocalists have gone through as many permutations in their career in popular music in the manner of Paul Nicholas. Best known as a singer, Nicholas began his career in professional music at the keyboard at age 19, playing piano with Screaming Lord Sutch and his backing band, the Savages, in 1964. He didn't remain with the band too long, however, choosing to give up playing full-time in favor of studying drama and developing his acting skills. Nicholas continued to record occasionally, but despite his access to early compositions by Pete Townshend ("Join My Gang") and David Bowie ("Over the Wall We Go"), he failed to chart a single with any of his work. In 1968, Nicholas joined the British cast of the musical Hair, which was brought to London in 1968 by Robert Stigwood in the lead role of Claude.

Kristoffer "Kris" Kristofferson is an American country music singer, songwriter, musician, and film actor. He is known for such hits as "Me and Bobby McGee", "For the Good Times", "Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down", and "Help Me Make It Through the Night". Kristofferson is the sole writer of most of his songs, and he has collaborated with various other figures of the Nashville scene such as Shel Silverstein. In 1985, Kristofferson joined fellow country artists Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash in forming the country music supergroup "The Highwaymen". In 2004, Kristofferson was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
