The Oulunkyla Pop/Jazz Conservatoire in Helsinki, Finland was founded in 1972. The Conservatoire is the leading seat on educating Finnish rock and jazz musicians. The Oulunkyla Big Band has been the clue of the Conservatoire from the very beginning. Lately the band has been touring together with Pepe Ahlqvist, the most well-known blues veteran in the country. The success has been overwhelming. Pepe Ahlqvist is the leading vocalist and harmonica player in Finnish blues. During his outstanding career Pepe has played with legendary blues ”breakers” like Buddy Guy, Champion Jack Dupree and Junior Wells among others. Together with his own line-up called H.A.R.P. he has out four chart topping albums full of tight rhythm & blues.
