Emotions quietly stir and resonate in this deeply self-reflective album exploring the terrain between melodic electronic/ambient and modern minimalism. These six pieces utilize gentle melody, harmony and sonic tonality to poignantly reflect upon the passage of time, life lived, lives passed and a time of renewal: a sigh of the ages expressed in sound.
Sigh of Ages is the result of extended periods of solitude and personal reflection for acclaimed composer Roach. Resulting directly from dynamic personal and cultural events, these pieces developed over time and in the moment. After 10 months of early morning and late night sonic meditations, Roach collected these various pieces and found they portrayed a poetic theme of sonic interpretations from this experience…

Prolific ambient innovator Steve Roach teams with Ph.D. shamanic practitioner / musician Mark Seelig to create a long-form piece of space-opening sound magic. Like the many fragrant and beautiful night-blooming plants which are host to mind-altering qualities, this 70-minute experience slowly blooms outwards with Mark’s vocal harmonic and Tuva-style overtoning intertwining within Steve’s zones and “terra” grooves. A slow motion magical blend is created in this nocturnal mist-filled realm. The power of the human voice is drawn forth in a primordial understanding and finds a perfect fusion with subterranean heartbeats, drones and zones swelling from the harmonic soil, gently urging the Nightblooming to increase its potency and allure…

There's probably no other television show that's as potentially divisive as "Spartacus: Blood and Sand." Here's a series that pushes all sorts of boundaries that even decidedly adult-oriented programs like "Oz" and "The Sopranos" would have never dared approach even but a few short years ago. Not only is "Spartacus" awash in the ultra-violence of ancient Rome's gladiatorial arenas, but it's also home to blunt sexual dialogue, full-frontal male and female nudity, and plenty of steamy sex scenes that place the show in the same grouping as some of the more explicit soft-core pornographic…

With 21 slabs of pure, joyous funk complete with huge drums, blistering horn charts, pulsing basslines, stacks of wah-wah fuzz guitars, and enough energy and rhythm to rearrange the stratosphere, this delightful set of rare and independent California funk releases from the late '60s and early '70s is as much a nonstop dance party as it is an affirming revelation. It never stops grooving – from the opener, Water Color’s “All Bundled into One,” a release so rare only one copy is known to exist, to the closer, a cover of Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On” by Mr. Clean & the Soul Inc., this is one powerful document. None of these sides was a national hit, and most didn’t even crack the local airwaves, but it’s not because they lack quality. There is so much to marvel at here, including the above-mentioned tracks as well as Arthur Monday’s thundering and slightly spooky “What Goes Around Comes Around” and the charging horns and percolating guitar of J.G.D. & the New Breed’s “North Richmond Breakaway.” It’s joyous funk as deep as the ocean is blue. You can’t go wrong with this one. – Steve Leggett

Premiata Forneria Marconi is considered to be the best Italian progressive rock band ever. PFM recorded excellent progressive rock in the seventies as we can hear on albums as Photos Of Ghosts (1973), The World Became The World (1974) and Chocolate Kings (1975). During the golden era of prog rock they also assisted a good friend who made music with hardly any relation with their own musical style…

One of the great lost treasures of australian 70’s music. Although Autumn began as a bubblegum band in the late-60’s, the early-70’s found them, after various line-up changes, a markedly different band. With lush harmonies, Beatlesque arrangements and a great batch of songs that ranged from breezy pop to progressive rock (as well as the the seven minute orchestral extravaganza: ‘Kill My World’), Comes… Autumn showed a mature and accomplished band that belied both their age and their beginnings. Features the singles ‘Falling’, and ‘Goblin’s Gamble’ plus 5 bonus tracks: including the rare final single ‘Just Couldn’t Believe It’, a spirited cover of The Beatles’ ‘Day Tripper’ and previously unreleased demos. Deluxe reissue is packaged in a 6 panel digi-pak. It has been remastered by Gil Matthews. Liner notes featuring quotes from a recent interview with lead singer Tony Romeril and a 24 page booklet filled with rare photos, posters.
