Per il centenario di Caporetto sono usciti libri a decine. Sul Piave e sul Grappa neanche uno. La sconfitta ci ispira. Ci raccontiamo di aver perso anche le poche guerre che abbiamo vinto. Oppure ci rifugiamo nella retorica, come il mito della «Razza Piave», caro al secessionismo veneto; ma sul Piave accanto ai veneti morirono lombardi e lucani, napoletani e genovesi. Certo, la guerra del '15-18 è stata un'immane carneficina. Era meglio non farla. L'Italia avrebbe dovuto restarne fuori. Invece fu decisa con un colpo di Stato che esautorò il Parlamento, e fu condotta in modo sbagliato quando non criminale. Il tradimento delle classi dirigenti però non toglie nulla al sacrificio dei nostri nonni. Anzi, lo rende se possibile ancora più valoroso..

Decca pays tribute to Joan Sutherland - "La Stupenda" to her numerous fans - with a limited-edition 23-CD set of her complete studio recitals. Joan Sutherland shot to international fame in February1959 when she sang the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, and a month later she recorded her first solo album in Paris for Decca - the start of an exclusive association that would last until her retirement from the operatic stage on 31 December 1990. This is the first time all of Joan Sutherland's studio recitals have been made available in a single collection and the set is released in time for what would have been the diva's 85th birthday on 7 November; October 10 marks the first anniversary of her death. The CDs are presented in sleeves with original cover art a 48-page booklet contains an appreciation of Joan Sutherland by opera wrter and critic George Hall.

One of the brightest stars in the 20th-century operatic firmament, the Pennsylvania-born soprano Anna Moffo (1932–2006) enjoyed a meteoric rise in the 1950s and 1960s that saw her conquer all the major opera houses in Europe and America. After making her Metropolitan Opera début in 1959 as Violetta in La traviata, she went on to appear with the company in 200 performances of 21 roles over a total of 18 seasons, before finally singing her last complete performance – once again as Verdi’s Violetta – and retiring from the stage in 1976. Specially released to mark the 10th anniversary of Anna Moffo’s death, Sony Classical releases for the first time, newly mastered from the original analogue tapes using 24bit/96kHz technology.

Sonmi451 is Bernard Zwijzen, creating his own blend of atmospheric ambient music from the city of Hasselt Belgium. His music is perhaps best described as a hybrid between subtle, shimmering electronica and delicate soundscapes. Every Sonmi451 track is a sort of mini-universe where field-recordings and lovingly crafted samples are combined with carefully chosen atmospheric ambiences. Sonmi451 likes to explore the inner aspects of sound and stillness, the cracks and loopholes that exist between sounds.

'The River' is concerned with how a location holds and hide memories, and inadvertently how perspective and time creates unreliable narrators. Rasti explores how memory gets reassigned, she paraphrases Heraclitus, “We never step in the same river twice, for it's not the same river and we are not the same human being.” Illustrating her thoughts she took small sequences from famous classical pieces and replayed and replayed these tiny fragments until they became unrecognisable.
