Un uomo molto anziano e un gatto ammaestrato danzano in una via di Roma. Pierre ha trentotto anni, è un agente immobiliare e a Milano vive un’esistenza tranquilla tra relazioni di lavoro e amici selezionati. Almeno fino al giorno in cui riceve una telefonata dalla Francia. Un medico di una clinica psichiatrica gli comunica che Amélie, la donna che Pierre credeva morta da venticinque anni, è deceduta solo qualche giorno prima. Amélie non è una donna qualunque: è sua madre. La notizia della vera morte della madre sconvolge la vita di Pierre. Sente di non avere più un passato e di essere vissuto per anni nell’inganno, che ha travolto e inquinato la sua esistenza. Nei giorni successivi una strana sensazione lo pervade. La prima scena è quella di una tragica fatalità. La morte di una bambina, Fortuna Loffredo, detta Chicca. Aveva appena sei anni. Nel giugno del 2014, la piccola precipita dal tetto della palazzina in cui viveva con la famiglia. Siamo al Parco Verde di Caivano, in provincia di Napoli, un quartiere che di verde non ha nulla oltre al nome. Una piazza di spaccio, di degrado, di interessi criminali e di malaffare che le tragedie preferisce masticarle e digerirle in fretta: meglio che si parli il meno possibile.

Eight original compositions, bold and characterful, all written by the quartet members and some improvised ‘chips’ on the theme of Materical, which gives the name to the band. These are the elements of the first album of this formation that starting from jazz, crosses different worlds of sound. In their music, swing is a basic element even when it is subterranean, useful in revealing the evocative power of the compositions rather than embellishing them in a mannered process.
Materical seeks a theatrical arrangement of the sound performance, through an incessant dialogue between the musicians. The absence of an overt leader is a precise choice for a collective responsibility for the development of the music.
