Legend is a greatest hits collection of Bob Marley & The Wailers songs, released by Island Records on May 8, 1984. It is the best selling reggae album of all time (13.5 million platinum in the United States), with sales of 25 million copies. An entry in the Universal Music Entertainment (UME) Deluxe Sound+Vision series of CD/DVD combos, this repackaging unites two releases that were themselves reissues when they first appeared in 2002 and 2003: a two-CD "Deluxe Edition" of the compilation Legend: The Best of Bob Marley and the Wailers, and a DVD reissue of the 52-and-1/2-minute home video of the same name, which added as a bonus the 85-minute documentary Time Will Tell.

Issued in 2007 on the 4AD label, THE BEST OF LISA GERRARD collects many of the finest tracks by the former Dead Can Dance vocalist/multi-instrumentalist. While the compilation includes a few tracks by that revered act, most notably the mystical "Yulunga (Spirit Dance)," a song that showcases Gerrard's striking voice, it primarily focuses on her solo work and film compositions, which both draw from music across the globe. On these pieces, Gerrard often collaborates with fellow Australian native Pieter Bourke, as on the passionate "Swans" and the expansive "Sacrifice," the latter from the INSIDER score. Although this anthology is a mere fraction of Gerrard's recorded output, it does serve as an excellent introduction to her impressive catalogue.

First Harvest: The Best of Alphaville 1984-1992 collects 15 tracks from the Europop darlings, marking the first "real" Alphaville compilation to span the group's entire career (1988's barren Singles Collection featured only four tracks in various states of mixdown). Cut from the same cloth as Ultravox and early Depeche Mode, the band had better success in Germany than it did in the United States, but standout cuts such as "Big in Japan," "Forever Young," "Red Rose," and "Jerusalem" reside in the upper echelon of early-'80s synth pop.
