In this course you’ll learn the core concepts of caricature. You’ll use concepts like exaggeration and abstraction to take a rough sketch to a fully developed caricature drawing.

In this course, I'll show some basic Russian academic art techniques that I've learned over the years through my studies at the Vladivostok Art College and the Ilya Repin St. Petersburg State Academic Institute for Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. With each lesson you will unveil a step of my process as I work on a realistic portrait drawing from start to finish. I'll explain every step along the way so that you can use them in your own art. From tinting, to sketching, and rendering individual parts of the face, this course will offer new ways to look at it all.

In this course, you will learn the fundamental concepts of drawing, which can be applied to any form of visual art. The course is designed to be engaging, informative, and easy to follow. You will learn how to use the visual language of drawing to communicate with pictures and how to draw from both imagination and reference. The course is divided into different sections, each focusing on a specific aspect of drawing, such as line quality, shape, perspective, form, light and shading. The course also includes projects tailored to beginners and intermediate artists, allowing you to go through the course twice, once as a beginner and once as an intermediate artist. This course will help you build a solid foundation of skills that will be useful for any specialty, whether you are interested in becoming a fine art painter, concept artist, or comic artist.

Part 2: Part 2 of the course builds your caricature muscles. The exercises we’ve created will help improve your visual memory and even trick you into drawing stronger exaggerations. There are lessons on how to work around mental roadblocks, break bad habits and methods on how to figure out those difficult faces. We’ll even learn about digital painting.
