This set collects the seven studio albums from 1984′s Red Roses For Me to Pogue Mahone from 1996 and adds a previously unreleased live album The Pogues with Joe Strummer Live In London (recorded in December 1991). There have been Pogues reissues before of course, notably in 2004 when the albums were re-released on CD with bonus tracks. Rhino also issued an Original Album Series collection in 2009 that brought together the five Shane MacGowan albums in the usual card slipcase packaging. So while in some ways 30 Years treads familiar ground, there is still much to recommend it. First off the band were involved in the project, and were keen to have their say. The decision to revert back to ‘just’ the albums and lose the 2004 bonus tracks was theirs, for instance. Another example of the band’s input was the cover design of the box. The literary types amongst you might notice that the typesetting and design is ‘inspired by’ an edition of James Joyce’s landmark work Ulysses.
This two-CD set collects most of Celine Dion's essential recordings from her pre-superstar years, when she was a very young French singer, popular in Canada and France. This set starts with the heavily synthesized Euro pop of the 1988 Eurovision contest winner "Ne Partez Pas Sans Moi," which was the song that introduced the singer to international audiences, and is something of a milestone in her career. Many of the songs on this set are fair, and differ from the processed teen pop of the late 1990s because of the ever-present sincerity in Dion's voice. Highlights include the elegant ballads "Tellement J'ai D'amour Pour Toi," "Benjamin," and "La Voix Du Bon Dieu"; the shimmering "Avec Toi" and "Du Soleil Au Coeur"; and the anthemic "C'est Pour Vivre."
Dreamin Dog Years album by Johnny Rich was released Oct 10, 2013 on the CD Baby label. Includes 16 tracks of funky bluesy rock and roll.
German band Cyril was formed in 2010 by former members of melodic rock band Gabria and a few musicians fairly well known to those who have kept track of the record label Cyril signed to, Progressive Promotion Records, which released their debut album "Gone through Years" in the spring of 2013. Melodic progressive rock bordering on metal or vice versa may be a suitable manner in which to describe the contents of Cyril's debut album "Gone through Years". Music on the borderline of progressive rock and metal, accessible and melodic in nature and expression but with a nice harder edge to it. A plausible guess for a key audience should be those who enjoy the likes of early 80's Genesis and Ayreon both, as well as those who generally tend to like the music released through Progressive Promotion Records of course.
