Short-lived Argentinian supergroup, that came to life in 1975 after the demise of Sui Generis. Initially Polifemo started as a Blues Rock trio with Sui Generis's Rinaldo Rafanelli on bass and Juan Rodriguez on bass along with guitarist David Lebón (ex-Pappo's Blues and a bandmate of Rinaldo Rafanelli in Color Humano). After a first single in 1975 the trio was joined by Espíritu's keyboardist Ciro Fogliatta and Polifemo, who had already singed with EMI, debuted in May 1976 with a self-titled debut.
While the basis of Polifemo's music was still a standard well-played Blues Rock, the presence of Fogliatta and the anxious spirits of the rest of the band make "Polifemo" much more than a rock release full of bluesy solos and grooves…

One of the most cosmic records from Italy, which combines obvious Canterburian influences, (evoke "Rock bottom" at times), a Zappaïan humorous/collage side and a good dose of space cosmic rock ("Seppia" being quite reminescent of Gong/"You"). Plus a typical Italian style, through a warm pastoral mood. Each piece creates a unique atmosphere."Off" is a delicate evanescent piece. A superb neo canterburyan effort and a must from Italy!

An intriguing mid-'70s rock album from Mexico, Love from the group Peck, Smyth & Off with songs from singer/keyboardist Serge Peck and guitarist/vocalist Jimmy Smyth. Sung entirely in English, this album, though cut in 1976 and featuring many of the stylistic conventions of the era, shows some late '60s/early '70s psych influences and also has a very clear progressive rock influence.

Snakes and Ladders / The Best of Faces was an October 1976 best-of album (the 7th album and 2nd compilation album) by British rock group Faces. While the first released Faces compilation was a repackaging of the group's first two LPs as a double album, this US-only release presented the first attempt to compile the popular songs from the group after they had disbanded in 1975. The selections are however heavily biased in favour of Rod Stewart's contribution to the group, with only one track featuring Wood on vocals, and none featuring Ronnie Lane, the group's secondary vocalist and songwriter. Although he had left the band in 1973, Lane was a prominent founder member of the band and sang on and solely composed several tracks on each of the group's four original studio albums, but his songwriting is also under-represented here with his contributions confined to co-credits with Stewart and/or Wood.

"I'm like 'Sweetie Pie' by Stone Alliance / Everybody knows I'm known for dropping science." Beastie Boys, "Root Down," 1994
For over three decades, the Stone Alliance's debut album on Gene Perla's PM Records has been a record collector's commodity. An LP that evolved from the Rare Groove 1990s into a hallowed place in America's deep jazz canon. This definitive reissue of the 1976 release was lacquered in an all-analog transfer by Bernie Grundman, who removed the Dolby noise reduction and freed the space in the record's grooves. Grundman himself said that this is the best that this record has ever sounded. Contains an oversized 8 page booklet that details bass player and PM Records founder Gene Perla's arc in music, the creation and lineage of his PM Records imprint and the story of the Stone Alliance band."
