In January 2017 Rufus Wainwright toured with the prestigious all string ensemble Amsterdam Sinfonietta through the Netherlands. Critics and audiences of the ten concerts were enraptured by the intimacy and intensity of the program curated by Wainwright.

The present release is a special live recording of the Staatskapelle Dresden's 1st symphony concert of the season in the Semperoper on September 1, 2017. Christian Thielemann’s engagement with the symphonic work of Anton Bruckner takes him in Vol. 52 to the composer’s early years.

For a long time it has been a dream for me to compose a piano concerto, so I am grateful for this opportunity given by the Japan Philharmonic Commission Series. ( “Japan Phil Series”) In composing this work, I tried to explore what the piano concerto can mean in this day and age, and the diverse colours I can bring out of the piano.
