Raven

Produced by John Hill, "Raven” (1969) was one of those album’s that took awhile to grow. Their sound was buried in blues-rock, with an occasional jazzy interlude, but with an intense, raw edge, that made them somewhat un-commercial. Not that being un-commercial was necessarily bad. Galla had an outstanding voice; gruff and rugged and near perfect for the genre, but like a lot of singers, his natural reaction was to try to power his way out of corners, which occasionally turned things screechy ("Feelin’ Good").

Rising from the ashes of late-'90s teen pop ephemera, Marion Elise Ravn (known as simply Marion Raven) has been around for a while. In 1994, the ten-year-old Raven recorded a collection of children's songs for EMI Norway with her friend Marit Larsen. The pair went on to form M2M in 1998, a doe-eyed addition to an overstuffed pop scene reigned over by Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera…

Raven Sad is a project instigated by Italian Samuel Santanna in 2005. The artistic goal is to create emotionally challenging music by blending elements from folk, psychedelic and progressive rock mixed with electronic textures and ambient passages. So far this has resulted in four albums, "Quoth" (2008), and "We Are Not Alone" (2009), "Layers of Stratosphere" (2011), and "The Leaf And The Wing" (2021), all issued by Italian label Lizard Records. With the 2011 album Raven Sad has morphed from a one-man (with friends) vehicle to a proper four-piece band.
