Per i viaggiatori che si fermavano sul bordo della strada a sbirciare i fiori o che allungavano il collo dai finestrini del treno per scorgere un angolo dello stagno, il giardino di Monet a Giverny era una visione paradisiaca. "Un Paradiso dove, all'ombra di alcuni alberi, i fiori variopinti giocano sul prato illuminati dal sole che filtra a chiazze tra le fronde mosse dalla brezza" scrisse un giornalista. Eppure quel luogo ameno era lo stesso in cui Monet, lottando con le sue tele, contemplava quello che il suo primo critico definì "il nulla insondabile": le ninfee - "silenti e misteriose più di ogni altro fiore" - ossessione decennale di un artista che inseguiva il sogno della forma e del colore fin quasi all'autodistruzione. "Ho intrapreso qualcosa di impossibile. Non dormo più per colpa loro", confessò Monet al suo amico Georges Clemenceau. Ma dietro ogni fiore c'è forse una donna? Una donna inaccessibile, proibita?

Lambert, Hendricks & Ross were an American vocalese trio formed by jazz vocalists Dave Lambert, Jon Hendricks and Annie Ross. The group formed in 1957 and recorded their first album "Sing a Song of Basie" (1957) for ABC-Paramount Records. The album featured versions of Count Basie standards and was successful enough that the Count Basie Orchestra collaborated with them on "Sing Along With Basie" (1958). Sing a Song of Basie was awarded a Grammy Hall of Fame Award in 1998.

The score soundtrack to "The Social Network" is reminiscent to the 2008 NIN double-instrumental album "Ghosts I-IV". While a few pieces of that album are heard in some of the score pieces, the record is a chilling, dark, ambient-inspired record that dwells into Mark Zuckerberg's troubled state of mind. While almost every track on the album is written by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, only one is a cover piece in the form of Edvard Grieg's "In The Hall Of The Mountain King". The result is definitely one of the most eerie and discomforting film scores ever created for a mainstream film.

At the age of 25, Joel Ross is considered one of the most exciting vibraphonists of his generation. That said, competition is hardly fierce. The Chicago-born Brooklyn-based student of Stefon Harris has chosen a pretty rare instrument that unfortunately doesn’t entice many jazzmen.

This is certainly one of the best produced and arranged records of the 1970s soul funk era with a whiff of a disco flavor and some of the greatest songs that were ever written in this genre. But this is also one of the least known and best hidden jewels waiting to be discovered by the legions of fans loving mid to late 70s soul queens such as Donna Summer, Diana Ross, Gloria Gaynor or the mighty Supremes.

"Ross" is the 14th studio album by American singer Diana Ross, released on June 9, 1983 by RCA Records. It was Ross' third of six albums released by the label during the decade. It was released shortly before Ross gave a pair of free concerts in New York's Central Park. The album reached #32 on the US charts, #14 on the US R&B charts and #44 in the UK. The album's highest international chart position was in Sweden, where it reached #7.
