Digitally remastered and expanded two CD edition of this 1978 album from the singer/songwriter including a rare b-side plus a bonus disc of previously unreleased material. Gerry Rafferty, although well known for being half of Stealers Wheel, began his solo career well before his involvement in the chart-topping duo. During this solo career, the Scottish musician has racked up four UK Top 10 albums and three UK Top 40 singles. It was not until his second album, City to City, however, that commercial success caught up with his early critical acclaim, with the album storming into #6 in the UK and #1 in the U.S. and spawning the UK #3 hit 'Baker Street' in the process. Marking his critical and commercial peak, the album (and single), remain his best known work, with the BPI announcing in October 2010 that Baker Street had surpassed five million plays worldwide. EMI. 2011.

Rafferty and Joe Egan formed the group Stealers Wheel in 1972, producing several hits. On A Wing & A Prayer is the seventh studio album by Gerry Rafferty. This album came at a bad time in Gerry's life. Recently divorced, a sadness is evident in several of the songs (Don't Speak of My Heart, Don't Give Up on Me).
As one-half of the Humblebums, Scottish singer/songwriter Gerry Rafferty came up through the U.K. folk-rock scene of the late 1960s and early '70s before finding mainstream international success with his 1978 solo album, City to City. During the years in between, he founded the bluesy rock band Stealers Wheel, whose enduring 1973 hit, "Stuck in the Middle with You," has achieved a certain amount of classic rock luster over the years thanks in part to its continued use in film and television…

Ten years after Gerry Rafferty's death from alcoholism-induced liver failure, Rest in Blue is being released as a sort of "what-if?" vision of his final album. Culled from demo tapes Rafferty had pulled from his archives for consideration on the follow-up to 2009's Life Goes On, the songs on Rest in Blue were actually written across several decades of his career.

Whether recording as a solo performer, a member of Stealers Wheel or as one-half of The Humblebums, the late Gerry Rafferty was always a master craftsman, leaving behind a dazzling portfolio of songs. Although early success eluded him, it was during his time with the nominally folk-oriented Transatlantic label that Gerry learnt his craft. As most fans will be only too aware, those early recordings have been repackaged on a regular basis over the last four decades or so with varying degrees of care and attention.
