Anative Ohioan on loan to Chicago for a graduate degree, Frank Youngwerth crashed into the Second City right as the house scene was beginning to burgeon. An autodidact in the studio, Youngwerth seamlessly combined his vocals, trumpet, and synth work into elegant club-ready tracks. By the early ’90s he had self-produced and self-released five 12"s, mostly distributed by the vital Gherkin label, and also produced the 4th & Bway single “Stay Close” by Mondee Oliver. Youngwerth caught the house wave, exporting his music all over Europe and the United Kingdom, and followed its (temporary) decline with the underperforming (and now widely sought-after) Whirr 12" single.

First released on Columbia Records in 1973, the savagely bombastic Raw Power is perhaps the first record that could truly be called punk. It was the confluence of The Stooges' ages, hormones, creativity, ability, experience, tastes, lack of supervision, contempt for authority and ambition that has made Raw Power one of the most influential albums of all time. This Legacy Edition features the original 1973 David Bowie mix along with a second disc of previously unreleased live recordings from the Raw Power tour and studio outtakes.

Raw Power is the third studio album by American rock band the Stooges (credited as Iggy and the Stooges), released on February 7, 1973 by Columbia Records. The album departed from the "groove-ridden, feel-based songs" of the band's first two records in favor of a more anthemic hard rock approach inspired by new guitarist James Williamson, who co-wrote the album's eight songs with singer Iggy Pop. Though not initially commercially successful, Raw Power gained a cult following in the years following its release and, like its predecessors The Stooges (1969) and Fun House (1970), is considered a forerunner of punk rock. The Guardian wrote that "it has since been acknowledged as one of the most influential records in rock history". The raw guitar sound of Williamson deeply influenced acts of different music genres such as the Sex Pistols, Johnny Marr of the Smiths and Kurt Cobain of Nirvana.

One of the last great Rock 'n' Roll, Blues 'n' Soul shouters is back with a fine album of pure unadulterated old school rockin' Rhythm & Blues madness. Raw, Raw, Rough serves up Barrence Whitfield just as you want to hear him - blistering, red hot and savage.Whitfield uses his God-given voice to pay the devil his due! Inspired lunacy - equal parts soulful and unhinged, Barrence Whitfield is a true force of nature that cannot be tamed. Dig Barrence's cover of the Sonics' classic Strychnine… dig the beat on Geronimo Stomp…..

Raw Silk blends classical sitar, electric cello, Indian vocals and experimental electronics into a long-form head massage. Hailing from Baltimore, Maryland, Alexa Richardson (cello) and Ami Dang (sitar, voice, electronics) started making music together as part of living room jam sessions and eventually realized that their sonic interests couldn’t be better matched: they both push the envelope of their classically-trained upbringings through string instruments (that surprisingly complement one another).

Raw Material is a British band that released two albums in the ealy 70's that are now highly collectible. The group consist of your standard prog quartet plus frontman Mike Fletcher on wind instruments. A self-titled effort, the first Raw Material release (barely) saw the light of day in 1970, pretty early in progressive rock's development, but thanks to a chicken-livered label and complete-and- utter apathy from the days music press this was an album cruelly doomed to fail right from the start. However, whilst 'Raw Material' may have sunk without trace when first released, the same cannot be said for the album's 21st century CD reissue, which has happily re-ignited interest in the forgotten group. And they deserve it. Blending elements of psychedelia, organ-baked blues, jazz-tinged rock, folksy meanderings and lysergic- dipped pop, 'Raw Material' is indeed a fascinating set…
