There was no one quite like Ronnie Lane - a talented songwriter and born entertainer he would initially find fame as part of the Small Faces. He co-wrote many of their classic 60s songs and then with the Faces some of the biggest hits of the 70s. It was Ronnie Lane with Steve Marriot who would write the Faces legendary classic Ooh La La. When Ronnie went solo it would be in Ronnie's way. The Passing Show is the stuff of musical legend, born from Ronnie's love of entertaining it was a travelling musical show performed in a Big Top with associated circus performers and financed by the money Ronnie earnt from the Faces. However it wasn't a commercial success and Ronnie signed with Island Records.

Ooh La La is the fourth and final studio album by the English rock band Faces, released in March 1973. It reached Number One in the UK album chart in the week of April 28th 1973. On Long Player and A Nod Is as Good as a Wink, they were a well-oiled machine at the peak of their powers. Here they're trying to rev up – they get there, but it's possible to hear the effort, as some of the songs fall just a little bit short of memorable. But there are some extraordinary moments here …

Blossom Dearie's second album for Verve, released in 1958, continued a streak of success that began with her first LP the year before. The jazz vocalist and pianist covers standards including the title song by Cole Porter, along with less familiar but no less impressive tunes. Dearie is backed on this session by the same stellar musicians as on her debut: guitarist Herb Ellis, bassist Ray Brown and drummer Jo Jones.

Guster's ninth studio LP, Ooh La La reveals a band fully in touch with thevoracious creative energy that first inspired their formation. A major leapforward for lead vocalist Ryan Miller, guitarist Adam Gardner, drummerBrian Rosenworcel, and multi-instrumentalist Luke Reynolds, OohLa La ultimately matches that wide-eyed spirit with a newly heightened senseof confidence, conviction, and commitment to the raw sincerity that's madethem so beloved. The follow-up to 2019's Look Alive, Ooh La La marks a bold departure from it'spredecessor. This time around, the band worked mainly with producer JoshKaufman (The Hold Steady, The National, Bonny Light Horseman), holing upat Isokon Studio in Woodstock and carving out a lush and expansive sound richin acoustic guitars and graceful piano work. With additional production fromRon Aniello (Bruce Springsteen), Rich Costey (Death Cab for Cutie, OfMonsters and Men), and Primarily mixed by Peter Katis (The National, KurtVile), the result endlessly radiates an undeniable warmth, even as it's songsdelve into the more daunting aspects of living in modern times.

Of the six recordings Blossom Dearie did for the Verve label in the '50s, Give Him the Ooh-La-La is the third one to be released on CD. Three titles still remain in the vaults including a Betty Comden and Johnny Green tribute as well as a Broadway Hits collection. It's a shame because Dearie's girlishly dynamic voice, subtle piano playing, and rarified choice of contemporary material made her recordings unique among '50s jazz vocal outings. Give Him the Ooh-La-La is no exception, with stellar backing by regular bassist Ray Brown, drummer Jo Jones and guitarist Herb Ellis, and Dearie's taut arrangements of a set of glowing ballads and brisk swingers. Included are a few well-worn standards like "Just One of Those Things" and "Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea"…
