Boy Meets Girl is an American pop-music duo consisting of keyboardist and vocalist George Merrill and singer Shannon Rubicam. They are perhaps best known for their hit song 'Waiting For A Star To Fall' and for writing two number one hits 'How Will I Know' and 'I Wanna' Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)' performed by Whitney Houston. The group released their second album, Reel Life, which featured the single Waiting For A Star To Fall in 1988. With this selection, after years of writing and composing songs for other artists, the duo earned mainstream success in their own right. In the United States, Waiting For a Star to Fall peaked at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 . The song reached #9 in the UK and was also a top ten Australian hit in April 1989. It was featured in the movie Three Men and a Little Lady. Reportedly, the song was inspired by an actual falling star that Merrill and Rubicam had seen at one of Whitney Houston's concerts at the Greek Theatre.

Over the last thirty years this 16 piece swing orchestra has grown to be Britain’s most popular big band. In its ranks are players who between them have worked with Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Ted Heath, Henry Mancini and Shirley Bassey to name but a few. The latest CD “Our Kind of Music” was produced with the late, great David Jacobs CBE and can be heard regularly on BBC Radio 2 and Jazz FM.

There’s no mistaking the message of “We’re All in The Dance,” the title track of singer Rachel Caswell’s latest album. The English lyrics rendered by Feist over the film’s final credits pair the dance of life (“partners are lost and found looking for one more chance”) with the dance of music (“feel the beat; music and rhyme while there is time”). Somehow, through her purity of tone, intelligent phrasing, and flowing time feel, Caswell cosigned by an ascendant solo by her younger sister, Grammy-nominated violinist Sara Caswell navigates an alternate, bespoke pathway through a song whose simplicity and elegance pose a challenge to a singer steeped in the complexities of jazz expression.

"Life Is a Dance: The Remix Project" is a remix album of recordings by American R&B/funk singer Chaka Khan, released by the Warner Bros. Records label in 1989. The compilation takes its title from a track included on Khan's 1978 solo debut album "Chaka". The album, which was released as a double-record set, on CD and as a limited cassette edition with one bonus track, comprises remixes made in the styles of late 1980s dance music genres like house music, hip hop and acid house of tracks originally recorded between the years 1978 and 1984, including two from Rufus & Chaka Khan's final album Stompin' at the Savoy – Live: "Ain't Nobody" and "One Million Kisses".

The Ira B. Liss Big Band Jazz Machine is a 39 year fixture in the Southern California jazz scene.
