"Niobe is the story of a strong woman brought down by an even stronger woman, the goddess Leto. I have tried to portray in music Niobe's sensuality, feistiness, pride, arrogance, remorse, defiance as the story of her blasphemy against the goddess Leto and her extraordinarily harsh consequent punishment unfolds. The relationship of the violin soloist to the orchestra is inspired by the dramatic unfolding of the myth. I am indebted to Tamsin Waley-Cohen for her encouragement and support as we developed the concept for Niobe and her brilliance as a soloist and interpreter of my music.

Mystic Sound Records proudly present the debut album of an extremely talented producer from Zhukovskij, Russia, Be Jam (Denis Lutovinov) - "Simulflow". Imagine a party in a temple, on the top of the really high mountain in India. And you go up leaving the ‘earth’ world back down - the walk is slow and relaxed, with the tricky music along. There are some random steps you need to rise; after every step you look back, breathe out and reveal the new world energy. These worlds are all different and evolve from the previous ones. They bring the same aspects of our ‘earth’ life, yet are they riddled and expanded with the new vision, where past meets the future…

Whereas Prokofiev was captivated by Romeo and Juliet, Ravel had shut himself away a quarter of a century earlier in Levallois Perret to compose Gaspard de la nuit, inspired by Aloysius Bertrand's collection of poems subtitled Fantaisies a la maniere de Rembrandt et de Callot. In 1973, the Uzbek composer Dilorom Saidaminova paid tribute to Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition and composed The Walls of Ancient Bukhara, which offers a sonic view of the historic centre of the Central Asian city founded four or five centuries before the common era. Her compatriot Behzod Abduraimov was keen to pay tribute to this little-known composer and record her music, which, like the other two works on this album, is evocative and colourful.
