Guitarist extraordinaire Robin Trower has reassembled the core of his late-'80s band, once again joining forces with Dave Bronze (bass), Davey Pattison (vocals), and Pete Thompson (drums). On 2004's Living Out of Time, they equal (if not best) their work on 1987's Passion and 1988's Take What You Need with 11 sides that reconfirm Trower's breathtaking instrumental capacity, as well as his knack for writing heavy rockers that don't come off as trite or excessive…

UFO, an English hard rock institution, helped pave the way for the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, with seminal acts like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and Def Leppard citing the band as a significant influence. Led by vocalist Phil Mogg, who has been the group's sole constant member since its formation in 1968, UFO enjoyed commercial success in the '70s and '80s with hits like "Rock Bottom," "Lights Out," and "Doctor, Doctor." Their 1979 concert album Strangers in the Night is often cited as one of the greatest live rock albums. UFO underwent numerous lineup changes over the years – guitarist Michael Schenker, formerly of Scorpions, joined the band in 1973 and contributed significantly to their sound before leaving in 1978 – but managed to release 22 studio albums, 14 live recordings, and numerous compilations before ceasing operations in 2024. Vocalist Phil Mogg, guitarist Mick Bolton, bassist Pete Way, and drummer Andy Parker formed the British space metal outfit UFO in 1968.

Robin Trower is one of the most artistic lead guitar players in the history of hard rock music. He can make a solo blister, fester and rip through your senses as easily as he can play sweet shit so soulful that you shed a tear. His music, while always influenced by the blues, is so much a part of his soul that anything he plays is genuine.

"Seven Moons" sees the former Procol Harum guitarist and Cream bassist reunite for the first time since 1982's Truce.
On their third collaboration, Robin Trower and Jack Bruce again opt for the blues-influenced, rocking, power trio format that suits them so well. Gary Husband plays the drums.
Trower Hendrix-influenced but very personal guitar playing is truly superb. Jack Bruce's highly commercial voice and distinctive bass playing make for a most appealing combination. Gary Husband is, of course, a superlative drummer having previously recorded with great musicians including Gary Moore, Allan Holdsworth, Billy Cobham and John McLaughlin. He has also already collaborated with Jack Bruce. He proves to be the perfect drummer for this album.

Robin Trower is an English rock guitarist and vocalist who achieved success with Procol Harum during the 1960s, and then again as the bandleader of his own power trio. Throughout his long and winding solo career, guitarist Robin Trower has had to endure countless comparisons to Jimi Hendrix due to his uncanny ability to channel Hendrix's bluesy/psychedelic, Fender Strat-fueled playing style. Caravan to Midnight is the sixth studio album by Robin Trower. The album cover art is by Hipgnosis.

Long Misty Days is Robin Trower's fourth solo album with cover art by "Funky" Paul Olsen. It was released in 1976. A good mix of down-and-dirty blues, it also features Trower's ethereal ballads.

Jack Bruce must have enjoyed his 2005 get-together with Cream so much that, when Clapton and Baker were unwilling to continue the collaboration, he rang up Robin Trower to renew the brief power trio fling they had in the mid-'80s. The Trower-Bruce pairing had released only two albums, B.L.T. and Truce, and was dormant since 1982, so this 2007 reunion was somewhat of a continuation of the project, albeit one separated by a quarter century. The results impressively continue where Truce left off, as Bruce brings his distinctive croon/moan to bluesy, riff-oriented tunes dominated by Trower's silvery guitar runs. Gary Husband fills the drum slot adequately if inconspicuously, but his contributions are mixed so far under Bruce's vocals and Trower's guitar that they are secondary.
