Stars On 45 was one of the biggest smash hit projects of the 80s, featuring hit medleys of some the worlds’ greatest artists and bands, such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, ABBA and Stevie Wonder.
The first Stars On 45 single sold more than 5 million copies worldwide and topped the charts in many countries in early 1981: The Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland and Austria, #2 in the United Kingdom and ultimately topped the US Billboard Hot 100 on 20th June 1981.

After three well-received albums in the first half of the nineties 1990’s Vehicle, 1994’s Modern Rock, and 1996’s Unknown Country The Clean disappeared again until the end of the decade, when another tour inspired another record. While playing gigs across New Zealand in celebration of their original label Flying Nun, David says they brought along a TEAC 4-track quarter-inch tape machine. “As usual, we started jamming and recording, and before you know, we thought we may be onto an LP.” Speed and spontaneity ended up defining Getaway.

The Bangles combined the chiming riffs and catchy melodies of British Invasion guitar pop with a hint of the energy of new wave. First time on CD for this collection of early Folk recordings from Barry 'Eve Of Destruction' McGuire and other members of The New Christy Minstrels, originally recorded in 1963 for the Horizon label, a short lived American Folk label whose most prominent artist at the time was Hoyt Axton. McGuire recorded a number of tracks for the label in the company of Karen Gunderson , Art Podell, Paul Potash, Barry Kane, all members of the New Christy Minstrels. These were collected together as Star Folk volumes 1 and 2 . The material is for the most part originals by McGuire and his contemporaries such as Hoyt Axton, Art Podell, Rod McKuen. These classic American Folk recordings have not been available since the mid '60s and include many standout recordings including 'Greenback Dollar', 'Town And Country' and 'So Long Stay Well'.
