The Negro Spiritual is still vibrant, popular and well-loved all over the world. The Georgia Spiritual Ensemble was formed to maintain the tradition of the Spiritual and to pass on to young singers the awesome power and beauty that is inherent in each melody. The George Spiritual Ensemble also wants to demonstrate through their performances the unyielding faith of the Africans who created these songs. The Spirituals became their voice of protest and their voice of endurance, strength, and courage.

All their greatest recordings on one 2CD set. Based around their ‘On The Beach With The Paragons’ album and augmented with a CD and a half’s worth of bonus tracks. Includes the seminal ‘The Tide Is High’. In 1998, the French Jet Set label reissued this classic 1967 album on CD. The original art work was included along with informative new liner notes and write-ups on both the Paragons and Duke "the Trojan" Reid (founder of the Kingston-based Treasure Isle Records and an important figure in Jamaican music). Originally a Treasure Isle LP, On the Beach with the Paragons sold well in Jamaica and also became a hit in England (where reggae and ska have been huge since the '60s).

In the golden age of the British R&B revival, few groups created as much excitement and controversy as the Pretty Things. They came up alongside the Rolling Stones in the early 1960s, but were deemed by critics and fans as wilder and bluesier than even Mick Jagger & co. When long-haired Phil May sang and shook his maracas with manic intensity, audiences and record buyers knew they were in for a wild ride.
