Sacd 2020

SACD version of the new CD first released in October 2020. This album by Luca Begonia, a jazz trombone player born in Italian Sanremo in 1965, represents the present age and lets you listen to melodies with techniques and romanticism. For this Quartet album, Luca Begonia rejoined with Massimo Faraò Trio. As result we got a masterpiece that gives you a sense of the essence of jazz! Studio recording session on February 21, 2020 in Turin.

In a strong start to 2020, Vocallion has reissued another batch of quad hybrid SACDs. Fans are getting a lot of rhythm and blues among other classic 70's quad reissues. The soulful and danceable Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes will surround listeners with a quad mix from their “Black & Blue” album along with the album “Wake Up Everybody”. Michael Dutton has gone back to the original analog masters and transferred them into the DSD domain in both quad and stereo on a single hybrid SACD.

Sony Japan continues with their limited edition quad SACD series with one of the greatest masterpieces of the fusion jazz genre. The 1973 “Head Hunters” album from keyboardist Herbie Hancock gets a reissue in multi-channel surround. Not only is the packaging unique to other editions, for the first time, the actual 4 channel quad version of the album has been released in a digital format. This should not be confused with the SACD that was issued by Sony Japan back in 2008, a multi-channel version which was reconfigured from the four channel master tapes. Instead this newly remastered 2020 edition truly gives quadrophonic collectors the original mix on a great format, and directly takes fans back to the 70's quad era.

A quartet and quintet performance with the two frontmen Claudio Chiara and Emanuele Sissi, plus the piano trio of Massimo Faraò/Nicola Barbon/Bobo Facchinetti. Recorded in February 2020 in Turin, Italy.

The 1967 debut full-length studio release by the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Newly remastered by Bernie Grundman from the original analog master tapes, the disc contains the mono and stereo mixes of this historic album. This is pure DSD sound to applaud!

During the middle of the 70’s disco era, The O'Jay’s could apparently do no wrong. The soulful Cleveland based trio recorded one hit after another under Gamble & Huff’s direction for Philadelphia International Records. Moving away from the angry bite of their 1972 release “Back Stabbers”, the band followed-up that fantastic album with their 1973 album “Ship Ahoy” heading onward into 1975 with two more LP’s, “Survival” and “Family Reunion”. These two albums were released in quadrophonic back then and now decades later Michael J. Dutton has remastered both albums from the original analogue tapes for his Vocalion label.

Since his stunning debut in 1974 with the now world-famous audiophile recordings for the Three Blind Mice label, Japanese pianist Tsuyoshi Yamamoto has built a career that now spans four decades. This live set by the Yamamato Trio, recorded at Jazz Is in Yokohama, features "Midnight Blues", "Polka Dots And Moonbeams", "The Look Of Love", "Mack The Knife", "Gentle Blues", "Caravan", "Misty", and more.

Earth, Wind & Fire hit their peak in 1975 with their multi-platinum album “That's the Way of the World”, excelling the band into absolute stardom with their hit title track and funky “Shining Star”. If you could have only one EWF release, this would be the best choice, and even better yet it has now been released on a quad hybrid SACD that also contains the follow-up 1976 album “Spirit”. Their powerful blend of funk and soul extends to the remainder of the album with no dull moments found within. “That's the Way of the World” can easily be considered one of the strongest albums of the '70s and has been impeccably remastered by Michael J. Dutton for the Dutton Vocallian reissue label.
