In Diego Lerman's slyly comic drama Suddenly, a pair of knowing punkette malcontents (who call themselves Mao and Lenin) kidnap (sort of) Marcia, a frumpy lovelorn lingerie salesgirl. Mao announces her intention to seduce Marcia as the trio strikes out on a journey that is poignant, funny and unpredictable from beginning to end.

Talk about playing from strength: Chip, Dave, Alan and Rick (and its slightly later U.S. counterpart, Suddenly You Love Me) was the second full LP of 1967 by the re-organized Tremeloes, and it doesn't have a weak moment on it. To the band, it must've seemed like nothing less than a miracle twice over, coming as it did the same year that they roared to the top of the U.K. charts (as well as scaling the American Top 20). For the rest of us, however, it was more like a triple miracle, musically speaking. Anyone who missed the optimism, lyricism, and soul stylings of albums like the Beatles' Rubber Soul (and the more accessible parts of Revolver), need look no further than the 13 songs on this long-player to recapture those vibrations…

Paul Jones, the legendary Manfred Mann frontman has only released two solo albums in the past 30 years and here’s the second – Suddenly I Like It. Paul’s produced and backed by the same team as 2009’s Starting All Over Again. Paul’s hits with Manfred Mann include Do Wah Diddy Diddy, Sha La La, Pretty Flamingo, Come Tomorrow, 5-4-3-2-1 (the Ready Steady Go TV theme), Oh No Not My Baby, If You Gotta Go – Go Now and The One In The Middle. Paul has had a BBC2 radio blues program for decades and he tours the world both with The Manfreds and The Blues Band.
