Le parole che usiamo non servono solo a descrivere la realtà ma influenzano inconsapevolmente anche i nostri pensieri e determinano quindi i nostri comportamenti. Occuparsi delle parole vuol dire soprattutto prendersi cura di sé e della propria mente. E non esistono cose più urgenti di dedicarci a noi e al rapporto con le altre persone. Questo viaggio ironico e al contempo molto serio ci porta, attraverso venticinque modi di dire che spesso usiamo inconsapevolmente, all’interno di una società ancora troppo maschilista, nella quale le donne troppo spesso mettono in atto comportamenti auto-sabotanti. Sono parole “di seconda mano”, che utilizziamo senza compiere una vera e consapevole scelta, sono parole non nostre ma che, nel momento in cui le pronunciamo, dicono tanto anche di noi, di chi siamo, di cosa (senza rifletterci) pensiamo e di come ci comportiamo..

He left the place twenty years ago to study in Paris and he never went back. Now his return forces him to deal with the traumas of the past. He obviously studied cinema and is able to watch the world from the safe distance provided by the lens of the camera. He’s gradually reconciled with both the living and the dead. And eventually this experience helps him not only to regain the love for his homeland but also to come in terms with his own self.

X-Legged Sally (XLS) is a Belgian avant-garde rock/jazz-band founded in 1988 by composer Peter Vermeersch, and disbanded in 1997. They were one of the first bands from Belgium to combine a set of very different musical styles (jazz, rock, improvisation and classical), becoming a starting point for the Belgian indie music scene that developed in the nineties. Initially, X-Legged Sally was formed to compose and perform the music Peter Vermeersch wrote for dance productions, such as Immer das Selbe Gelogen (Always the Same Lies), released as a live cd in 1991. Vermeersch' composing style was becoming too demanding for the constraints of sheet music such as was used in his earlier band Maximalist! From the beginning, improvisation played an important role in XLS' songs. The first X-Legged Sally concert took place in November 1988. Soon, XLS became a band in its own right, although there would be cooperations with dance ensembles throughout the existence of the group.

In 2010 in Surrey, mother-of–two Sally Challen bludgeoned her husband Richard to death as he sat eating lunch at the kitchen table. She covered his body in a pair of old curtains, a note that said 'I love you', and was later arrested at the notorious suicide spot of Beachy Head. No-one at her trial, including her close family and friends, were surprised when the jury found her unanimously guilty of murder.
