"Nine" is the second studio album by Australian singer Samantha Jade. The album's title, and title track, "Nine" is a reference to the nine years between releasing her debut single, "Step Up", and finally achieving her goal of releasing her first album of original material.

Versatile roots rock guitarist Samantha Fish impressed industry professionals as a teenager before scoring her first Billboard blues number one in her mid-twenties. That was with her third solo studio album, the Luther Dickinson-produced Wild at Heart (2015). She went to number one again with Belle of the West (2017) and Kill or Be Kind (2019). Her seventh studio long-player, 2021's Faster, saw her backed by members of the Vandals and the Last Bandoleros. Born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, Fish grew up in a musical family with a variety of genres, including a steady diet of classic rock radio. Her father played guitar and would sometimes jam with friends at their home.

Folk singer-songwriter Samantha Crain follows her 2015 release with "You Had Me at Goodbye", recorded on analogue tape, produced once again by John Vanderslice and mastered by Grammy winner Bernie Grundman. The Oklahoma native says her songwriting on this album reflects more of her true self and her influences than ever before as she lets go of any musical restrictions that limited her in the past.
