Scott Hamilton & Jeff Hamilton Trio Live in Bern

Saxophone master Scott Hamilton and drum maestro Jeff Hamilton have over four decades of experience each in the world of mainstream, swinging, jazz. Despite those many years on the scene Live In Bern is their first release together. It's been a long wait, but it's been worth it.

Jeff Hamilton Trio has been together for over 17 years and this is their first live recording for Capri! It was recorded in the intimate setting of Alva's Showroom in San Pedro California before an audience of friends and die-hard fans. The tunes are made up of 3 standards including a delightful version of Poinciana, I Have Dreamed from the team of Rogers and Hammerstein and Thelonious Monk's In Walked Bud as well as originals by Hamilton, John Clayton, Tamir Hendelman, Matt Wilson, Joe La Barbara and Georg Robert. The CD is dedicated to Jeff's mom who passed away 16 days after the recording was made.

Tenor saxophonist Cory Weeds and the Jeff Hamilton Trio are at it again with a followup release to their critically acclaimed This Happy Madness recording. Dreamsville, a decidedly more melancholy recording features some lesser known gems such as Michael Franks' Lady Wants To Know, Henri Mancini's Nothing To Lose and a beautiful ballad by Anthony Newly called Love Is A Now And Then Thing.

As one of the most sought-after jazz artists of our time, PETER BEETS has attracted a devoted international audience, performing regularly at major jazz festivals and venues throughout Europe, the United States and Asia. He has shared the stage with jazz greats such as Chick Corea, Wynton Marsalis, “Toots” Thielemans, Elvin Jones, George Coleman, Johnny Griffin, Benny Golson and Kurt Rosenwinkel. One of his earliest recordings, "First Date" (1996), featured the great Jeff Hamilton on drums. In 2001 the Criss Cross label invited Peter for a series of CDs with his "New York Trio", inviting artists like Willie Jones III, Larry Grenadier and Greg Hutchinson, earning him international acclaim.

The Europeans never abandoned Jazz, and the Jazz music scene remains alive and well on the other side of the Atlantic. Scott Hamilton, born in Providence, Rhode Island, cognizant of Europe's enthusiastic love of Jazz, has taken his prodigious mastery of the tenor sax to Italy where he now resides.

Saxophone heavyweight Scott Hamilton wanted to make an album that would stand up to the best of them and he wanted to do it the right way. To do this he choose some of his favorite ballads and played the songs live in studio with a large string section, with no overdubs or laid-in tracks. This album was arranged and conducted by Alan Broadbent. The record was recorded in Hollywood on October 5 & 6, 1992.

Born in Western Australia to Polish immigrant parents, Konrad’s musical affinity and passion for jazz piano revealed itself early on. He was accepted into university at the tender age of 15, and finished his undergraduate degree at 18. The precocious instrumentalist swiftly established a reputation as a leading jazzman in Australia, soon becoming the first pianist to win the James Morrison Scholarship in 2008.

On this album, Konrad Paszkudzki and his piano join together with Dylan Shamat, bass, and Dag Markhus, drums, to compile a 14-track album of the Jimmy Van Heusen songbook.
