Shani Diluka releases a great project dedicated to Marcel Proust and composers he loved, to celebrate the 150-year anniversary of his birth in 2021 and the 100-year anniversary of his death in 2022.

Deux symphonies datant des turbulentes années 1930 sont juxtaposées dans la deuxième publication de Lahav Shani chez Warner Classics en tant que chef d'orchestre principal de l'Orchestre Philharmonique de Rotterdam. Lahav Shani décrit la Symphonie n° 2 de Kurt Weill, créée par Bruno Walter à Amsterdam en 1933, comme "l'une de mes pièces préférées à diriger… C'est une musique tonale, très mélodique, très théâtrale, qui n'est en réalité comparable à rien d'autre". La puissante Symphonie n° 5 de Chostakovitch, avec son jeu énigmatique de sincérité et d'ironie, avait été choisie par Shani pour conclure son concert inaugural en tant que directeur musical à Rotterdam en 2018.

For his first album with Warner Classics, Lahav Shani conducts the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra in Symphony No. 7 and plays Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4: two pieces which come from Beethoven’s so-called middle period. The classical harmonic tension contributes to the drive of the music as much as the rhythmic propulsion.

Lahav Shani, Chief Conductor of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra for the past five years, conducts the Dutch ensemble in Bruckner’s epic Symphony No 7.

Lahav Shani conducts the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra in a recording of Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 3, Op. 56, "Scottish." This album also includes the overture "Meeresstille und glückliche Fahrt" (Calm Sea and Prosperous Voyage) and orchestrated versions of three of Mendelssohn's "Lieder ohne Worte".

Shani delves into this connection on a modern piano and gives us a unique interpretation by featuring two works recorded on the copy of the 1790 Walter, Mozart's favourite piano.

The Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and its chief conductor Lahav Shani open this Mendelssohn album with Mendelssohn’s Symphony No 3, the ‘Scottish’, that was inspired by his first visit to Great Britain in 1829.The overture Meeresstille und glückliche Fahrt (Calm Sea and Prosperous Voyage), first heard in 1828, was inspired by two short poems by Goethe.The album closes with 3 of Mendelssohn’s Lieder ohne Worte Op.19b, orchestrated by maestro Shani.
