The narrator (Jean-Louis), a devout Catholic, moves to a provincial town and vows to marry Francoise, a pretty blond he notices at mass. The multifaceted, deeply personal dramatic universe of Eric Rohmer has had an effect on cinema unlike any other. One of the founding critics of the history-making Cahiers du cinema, Rohmer began translating his written manifestos to film in the sixties, standing apart from his New Wave contemporaries, like Francois Truffaut and Jean-Luc Godard, with his patented brand of gently existential, hyperarticulate character studies set against vivid seasonal landscapes.

Une comédienne fan de chanson et un musicien accro au cinéma : la rencontre entre Françoise Fabian et Léonard Lasry était inévitable. Six ans après le succès de son premier album éponyme (à l’âge de 85 ans !), l’héroïne de Ma Nuit chez Maud d’Éric Rohmer reprend le chemin des studios pour une série de chansons composées par Lasry, donc, et écrites par Élisa Point. Depuis quelques années, Point et Lasry se sont « spécialisés » dans les albums d’actrices mythiques, leurs deux principaux trophées étant Charlotte Rampling et Fanny Ardant. La couleur latino et trépidante de la chanson d’ouverture, Tant que je n'y pense pas, est une manière de souligner la vitalité intacte d’une Françoise Fabian désormais nonagénaire.
