The Psychedelic Sounds of… is the Elevators’ ground-breaking debut from 1966 and lays claim to being the first psychedelic rock album—and is certainly the first to use the word 'psychedelic'. Known for founder Tommy Hall’s use of the electric jug and Roky Erickson’s emotive singing of Hall’s poetic lyrics. The third and most seasoned Drugdealer album, Hiding In Plain Sight, almost didn't happen at all. Frustrated and insecure with his own singing voice prior to the pandemic, Drugdealer founder and primary songwriter Michael Collins was nearly ready to throw in the towel. While attending Mexican Summer's annual Marfa Myths festival, a chance encounter with artist and composer Annette Peacock changed his outlook. Collins says, "I told her my plight, then I played her a song, and she told me I wasn't singing high enough for my speaking voice. When I returned to LA, I started coming up with new progressions, which I'd modulate up three half steps. It forced me to find a new way to sing."

I started recording this album over Christmas 2022 with nothing in mind other than to make a new record - same as always - but as it moved back and forth between me and the other players (Mees Siderius, Elsa Van Der Linden and Jim Putnam), and finally to Ajay to mix, it had changed shape several times - the final version you can hear on this record is a distillation of a million ideas, brought into focus. It’s title comes from the Maya Deren film of the same name, which happened to be playing in the background when i was listening to the mixes. Canada's greatest contribution to country music, Hank Snow was famous for his "traveling" songs. It's no wonder. At age 12 he ran away from his Nova Scotia home and joined the Merchant Marines, working as a cabin boy and laborer for four years. Once back on shore, he listened to Jimmie Rodgers records and started playing in public, building up a following in Halifax. His original nickname, the Yodelling Ranger, was modified to the Singing Ranger when his high voice changed to the great baritone that graced his hit records.
