Soft Computing And Intelligent Data Analysis in Oil Exploration

This book constitutes the refereed conference proceedings of the 15th International Conference on Intelligent Data Analysis, which was held in October 2016 in Stockholm, Sweden. The 36 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 75 submissions. The traditional focus of the IDA symposium series is on end-to-end intelligent support for data analysis. The symposium aims to provide a forum for inspiring research contributions that might be considered preliminary in other leading conferences and journals, but that have a potentially dramatic impact.

This book presents selected research papers on current developments in the fields of soft computing and signal processing from the Third International Conference on Soft Computing and Signal Processing (ICSCSP 2020). The book covers topics such as soft sets, rough sets, fuzzy logic, neural networks, genetic algorithms and machine learning and discusses various aspects of these topics, e.g., technological considerations, product implementation and application issues.

The obvious question, when confronted with a book with the title of this one, is why "intelligent" data analysis? The answer is that modern data analysis uses tools developed by a wide variety of intellectual communities and that "intelligent data analysis" , or IDA, has been adopted as an overall term. It should be taken to imply the intelligent application of data analytic tools, and also the application of "intelligent" data analytic tools, computer programs which probe more deeply into structure than first generation methods. These aspects reflect the distinct influences of statistics and machine learning on the subject matter. The importance of intelligent data analysis arises from the fact that the modern world is a data-driven world. We are surrounded by data, numerical and otherwise, which must be analysed and processed to convert it into infor­ mation which informs, instructs, answers, or otherwise aids understanding and decision making. The quantity of such data is huge and growing, the number of sources is effectively unlimited, and the range of areas covered is vast: industrial, commercial, financial, and scientific activities are all generating such data.

This book presents high-quality research papers presented at the International Conference on Soft Computing for Intelligent Systems (SCIS 2020), held during 18–20 December 2020 at University Institute of Engineering and Technology, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, Haryana, India. The book encompasses all branches of artificial intelligence, computational sciences and machine learning which is based on computation at some level such as AI-based Internet of things, sensor networks, robotics, intelligent diabetic retinopathy, intelligent cancer genes analysis using computer vision, evolutionary algorithms, fuzzy systems, medical automatic identification intelligence system and applications in agriculture, health care, smart grid and instrumentation systems.

We describe in this book, new methods for intelligent manufacturing using soft computing techniques and fractal theory. Soft Computing (SC) consists of several computing paradigms, including fuzzy logic, neural networks, and genetic algorithms, which can be used to produce powerful hybrid intelligent systems. Fractal theory provides us with the mathematical tools to understand the geometrical complexity of natural objects and can be used for identification and modeling purposes.

This book constitutes best selected research papers presented at the International Applied Soft Computing and Communication Networks (ACN 2019) held in Trivandrum, Kerala, India during December 18 – 21, 2019. The papers are organized in topical sections on real time and multimedia communications, security and privacy, network management and software-defined networks, Internet of Things (IoT) and cyber-physical systems, intelligent distributed systems, mobile computing and vehicle communications, surveillance networks and visual intelligence, and emerging topics.
