Spare Bedroom Studio

Multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter George Moir releases his debut EP, Spare Room. The release was heralded by his single "Blame", released in February. Sharing a taste of the album, "Blame" is a warbly, piano-led indie bander, with gospel harmonies and self-produced bedroom flair.

Philip Goth was founded by Josh Rawson. Josh joined a band called the Felice Brothers as a teenager, where he played bass and wrote songs.

Singer-songwriter Stevie Knipe has been making music for close to a decade, since they were a college student in upstate New York recording in a dorm room.

Several things happened before a warm day when I met the four members of Frankie Cosmos in a Brooklyn studio to begin making their album. Greta Kline spent a few years living with her family and writing a mere 100 songs, turning her empathy anywhere from the navel to the moon, rendering it all warm, close and reflexively humorous. In music, everyone loves a teen sensation, but Kline has never been more fascinating than now, a decade into being one of the most prolific songwriters of her generation. She’s lodged in my mind amongst authors, other observational alchemists like Rachel Cusk or Sheila Heti, but she’s funnier, which is a charm endemic to musicians.

"I Want You" is the fourteenth studio release from the R&B musician Marvin Gaye, originally released March 16, 1976 on Motown records. Recording sessions for the album occured from 1975 to 1976 at Motown Recording Studios, and Gaye's personal recording studio in Los Angeles, California.

For the prodigious young pianist, the spirit of his hometown runs deep. From the Afro-Brazilian maracatu born on the sugar plantations of slavery, to the high intensity carnival rhythms of frevo and baião, Amaro’s heavily percussive approach to jazz is as indebted to these Pernambuco traditions as it is to Coltrane, Parker and Monk.

Based in the Western Australian city of Perth, teenager Martin Clarke was working at a local radio station when he converted a spare bedroom into a makeshift recording studio. That modest early venture evolved into Martin Clarke Recording Studios, which opened in 1962 to become Perth's first professional recording facility. By the time the studio purchased a four-track in 1966, Clarke had launched the Clarion label, working with a constant stream of solo singers and beat/R&B groups.

Low Cut Connie’s follow up to his critically-acclaimed 6th studio album Private Lives, Tough Cookies: The Best of The Quarantine Broadcasts, pulls recordings from the band’s twice-weekly livestream “Tough Cookies” which celebrates its one-year anniversary this month. The 23-track album consists of a small percentage of the 500+ covers Weiner has performed so far during the broadcasts.“Two weeks into quarantine, we ‘went live’ in my spare bedroom in South Philly to cheer up our fans. There was no script, no plan, just a couple schmucks trying every form of entertainment to try to lift people’s spirits,” explains Weiner. “Now a year later, we’re still going strong and have covered over 500 songs for viewers in over 40 countries. It’s been amazing watching the project grow and I wanted to put the record out as a document of this insane time we all shared. It was all done on cell phones but the spirit of the matter cuts through.”
