Statistical Mechanics

This work arises from our teaching this subject during many years. The vast majority of these exercises are the exams we gave to our students in this period. We carefully selected the subjects of the exercises to cover all the material which is most needed and which is treated in the most well known texts on these subjects.

Statistical Mechanics and Statistical Methods in Theory and Applications.
This volume of essays is dedicated to Professor Elliott Waters Montroll on his sixtieth birthday. The outstanding scientific work of Professor Montroll, his record as a teacher, lecturer and director of research, his active role on numerous governmental, academic and industrial advisory boards and panels, his editorial endeavors and the long line of students, collaborators, colleagues and friends are all a testimony to his con- tributions to science and society.

This book is a printed edition of the Special Issue "Statistical Mechanics and Thermodynamics of Liquids and Crystals" that was published in Entropy (MDPI). The articles collected in the book deal with some topical trends in the statistical physics of condensed-matter systems. Such contributions provide an indication of the variety of problems that can arise in the study of strongly correlated particles, giving at the same time a representative account of the methods employed in this widespread field of research.

This book highlights a comprehensive introduction to the fundamental statistical mechanics underneath the inner workings of neural networks. This book provides a gentle introduction to equilibrium statistical mechanics. The particular aim is to fill the needs of readers who wish to learn the subject without a solid background in classical and quantum mechanics.
