He developed a sincere devotion to classic Jamaican music at a young age, listening to such artists as Dave Barker, The Bleech- ers, The Wailers, Phyllis Dillon, and Alton Ellis. 'I wanted to make a record that was honest and true to the golden era of Jamaican music' says Thomas. After several conversations with reggae producer Brian Dixon, they both realized they were on the same page.

The Dustbowl Revival is a Venice, California-based collective that merges old school bluegrass, gospel, pre-war blues and the hot swing of New Orleans to form a spicy roots cocktail. Known for their roaring live sets, Dustbowl bravely brings together many styles of traditional American music. Some call it a string band-brass band mash up. Original soundtrack to the 2015 motion picture. Bill Murray plays a rock n roll artist manager who travels to Afghanistan and discovers a local girl with a golden voice. The Barry Levinson comedy also stars Zooey Deschanel, Danny McBride and Leem Lubany. The soundtrack is anchored by Leem Lubany's three original Cat Stevens covers which feature prominently in the film. A Bill Murray cover of "Smoke on the Water" is also exclusive to this soundtrack. The Cat Stevens original, "Pop Star," leads a handful of licensed classic rock era songs.
