Hearing the expertly constructed and deeply sensitive post-classical pieces featured on "Slumber Tides" (2006) it is difficult to comprehend that the musician is only a mere 18 years of age. Harking from the boredom filled lands of Greater Surrey in England, Haines quickly tired of school life and found himself immersed in music, and in a move indicative of the current trend of our disillusioned youth, became obsessed with the intrigue of experimental sound. Travelling through Europe whenever he could and sleeping on the floors of musicians he would contact by email he quickly built up a network of friends, most importantly in Oslo, Norway where he spent time with Deaf Center's Erik Skodvin (who also runs the Miasmah imprint)…

Bosch's With You were a Russian instrumental post-rock band, formed in Moscow in 2004. Conceived initially as a solo-project of Dima T. Pilot (1980-2009), guitarist and founder of the noise-rock band Pilots Up In Ssmoke (active from 1999 through 2006), that project soon grew into a four-piece band know for its charming and intriguing stage performances. From 2004 through 2009, Bosch's With You produced 8 albums in total including vinyl-only LP for the US-based KNVBI Records and 3”EP for Chat Blanc Records from Canada. In their years, Bosch's With You went through several personnel changes, though the creative core of guitarists Dima T. Pilot and Andrei B. remained relevant and meaningful. This is well structured and rich in textures post-rock with moody melodic lines, soft intelligent rhythmics, and lots of organic and found noises.
Brother Ape is a very fine act consisting of four very talented as well as skilled musicians. Stefan Damicolas (vocals, guitars), who is writing most of the material with all tracks arranged together with the rest of the band, Peter Dahlstrom (vocals, bass, keyboards), Gunnar Maxén (bass, keyboards, vocals) and Max Bergman (drums, percussion). Musically their sound is a unique blend of progressive rock and fusion. At times chord changes are somewhat in the vein of 70's fusion bands such as Weather Report or Brand X, but performed with quite heavy, but also kind of sophisticated guitars rather than 70's keyboard sounds. They've also got one foot in the more traditional progressive rock style with Saga, Yes, Rush and maybe also some A.C.T influences with the end result creating an original yet accessible sound of their own. Dashes of Zappa's rockier style can also be found in their music.
Salinas Ibiza Chillout Vol. 1 (2006). The Islanders is pure Chill Out. S'hort Records is looking to the future. They're from Ibiza and they're there…
Auburn Silhouette (2006). Ambient spaces and landscapes with percussive incidentals and some beats. Auburn Silhouette contains tracks with smooth ambient sheets, an almost choral tone at times lurking beneath; warm, harmonious synths shot through with brassy strains; booming, dense sonic environments suggestive of roaring emptiness, atonal turbulences, atmospheric disturbance. These sound zones are embellished with subtle snatches of melody on guitar and keyboard, the echoing chirps of birds, sampled sounds, short warbling sequences, jangling metallics ringing and clattering, rich, deep chimes…
Canvas Solaris was a band active from 1999 to 2011 that played a complex, experimental and technically sophisticated style of instrumental metal. The early line-up, namely Nathan Sapp (guitars, vocals), Jimmy McCall (bass guitar), Brad Jeffcoat (vocals) and Hunter Ginn (drums), recorded two demos and played several shows in South-Carolina. Jeffcoat and McCall left the band in 2002 and the group added Ben Simpkins (guitar, bass guitar, keyboards) to the line-up and began writing much more experimental instrumental technical, jazz-inspired progressive music. In June 2003 they released their first EP, "Spatial/Design". The group scaled back from live appearances and one year later arrived their first full-length album "Sublimation"…
