"Summertime Dream" is Canadian singer Gordon Lightfoot's 12th original album, released on the Reprise Records label in 1976. It peaked at #1 on the Canadian RPM national album chart, and #12 on the US Billboard pop chart. The album marked Lightfoot's commercial zenith in a remarkable period of popularity which had begun with the 1970 hit, "If You Could Read My Mind". He would never again achieve the same level of commercial success. The album shot to popularity on the back of the haunting ballad, "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald", which told the story of the final hours of SS Edmund Fitzgerald which had sunk on Lake Superior in November 1975. The song remains popular to this day and has been credited with making the sinking of Edmund Fitzgerald the most famous maritime incident in the history of the Great Lakes. "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" reached #1 in Canada on November 20, 1976. In the US, it peaked at #2 on the pop chart and #50 on the country chart while "Race Among the Ruins" peaked at #65 on the pop chart.

The two classic albums reissued on this CD are from 1975 and 1976. While they didn't exactly set the world on fire, they DID leave the listener with no doubt as to just how talented the musicians that made up MFSB were and that they could tackle everything from Disco to Funk to Soul to MOR-Pop with grace, class and musical virtuosity. It's definitely great to have these classics on CDs as these albums capture the magic of the Philadelphia Soul sound at a time when it had truly reached its apex. Enjoy!

One of the biggest and best albums ever for Hamilton Bohannon – filled with quirky rhythms and really unusual grooves! Bohannon was one of the key forces in setting the scene for disco in the early 70s – and by the time the rest of the country was hitting the dancefloor in the middle part of decade, he was still moving forward, into a whole new realm of groove! The tracks on this set have some really mad rhythms – skittish and scattered, still with a dancefloor approach, but with lots of odd touches that set them apart from the rest of the pack. A key example of this is the great tune "Me & The Gang", which has this off-key piano loping out over chunky beats – but the whole thing's great, with a lot more of a sly edge than you'd expect from the cover. Titles include "Summertime Groove", "The Street Dance", "Let's Start The Dance", "Listen To The Children Play", and "I Wonder Why". (Cover has some wear and creasing.)

"Mungo Jerry" is the debut album by Mungo Jerry, released in 1970. Mungo Jerry are a British rock group whose greatest success was in the early 1970s, though they have continued with a changing line-up that has always been fronted by Ray Dorset. The group's name was inspired by the poem "Mungojerrie and Rumpelteazer", from T. S. Eliot's Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats. They are identified with their biggest hit "In the Summertime". It remains their most successful and most recognisable song. They had nine charting singles in the UK, including two number ones, and five top 20 hits in South Africa.

Directed by Antonio Isasi-Isasmendi (“That Man in Istanbul”, “They Came To Rob Las Vegas”), and starring Chris Mitchum, Olivia Hussey, Karl Malden, Claudine Auger and Raf Vallote, this coproduction between Spain and Italy was a huge box-office success at the time of its original release, later turning into a cult-film with millions of fans. Quentin Tarantino was one of the latter, paying homage to this film with the inclusion of one of the original tracks in his soundtrack to “Kill Bill”. The score, written by Academy Award-winning composer Luis Bacalov in 1973, was only released in Japan in a deluxe but brief 25-minutes LP. In 1995 one most extensive edition of the score was issued in Italy by the label Point Records, in a CD now out-of-print and, for many years, hard-to-find. However, the previously unreleased tracks in the Point edition were presented in a non-too rational suite version. The composer alternates dramatically suspenseful score with ‘source music’ in the form of ballad, rock music and dance floor tunes, usually heard through a car radio or a jukebox typical of 60s and 70s cinema. Remastered from original stereo tapes.
