As a child she listened to the boogie woogie stars Pete Johnson, Albert Ammons and Meade Lux Lewis. She learned also a lot from the musicians who lived in her neighbourhood, Lightnin’ Slim and Slim Harpo, who created the Swamp Blues. On this CD – a live-recording from Greece – you can hear what great artist Katie was! She was known by her fans as Two fisted mama, Piano pounding, soul-singin’ swamp boogie queen!
