Perfect Symmetry is the fifth studio album by progressive metal band Fates Warning, released in 1989 through Metal Blade Records. Perfect Symmetry was Fates Warning's second album with singer Ray Alder, who fully participated in the writing of the album. Guitarist and founding band member Jim Matheos describes Alder as having "really started to find his voice and range [on Perfect Symmetry].

Fearful Symmetry is a collection of 24 art songs by American composer William Mac Davis, performed by soprano Lynda Poston-Smith and pianist Robert Carl Smith. William Mac Davis was born May 13, 1953. He received a B.M. and M.M. from the University of Mississippi, and a PhD in Composition from the University of Utah. Mac also continued postdoctoral study at the Eastman School of Music. Some of his teachers were Samuel Adler, Ned Rorem and Ramiro Cortes. He has worked at the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas. Lynda Poston Smith and Robert Carl Smith are a husband and wife duo who regularly perform concerts and have recorded several albums together.

Although darker and heavier in tone than Quicksilver Night’s 2012 EP “Lucent” and 2015 “Reliquary” album, “Symmetry” explores similar lyrical concepts about the choices we make in the face of our apparent freewill and the consequences of those choices. This is not, however, a linear storyline nor is it even about a single specific character; this is more a series of vignettes in metaphor.
