An adventurous fusion outfit, New York's Tauk emerged in the early 2010s playing a cross-pollinated brand of jazz, funk, prog, and instrumental jam band rock. Although friends since their teens, the bandmembers came to wider attention after Tauk toured with Umphrey's McGee and released their own 2013 album, Homunculus. Favorites on the jam band circuit, Tauk keep an intense live schedule, appearing at festivals around the globe. Hailing from Oyster Bay, New York, Tauk feature guitarist Matt Jalbert, keyboardist Alric Carter, bassist Charlie Dolan, and drummer Isaac Teel. The project now known as Xoa started several years ago. The group has had a few different formations over the years, initially forming with 5 members. Ian and Cian remain as the founding members from this original lineup. Not long after a significant restructuring of the group we added Kyle, forming the current lineup of the group as a power trio.

The album was recorded at Chase Park Transduction in Athens during October - December 2016 with Drew Vandenberg (discography includes of Montreal, Mothers, Kishi Bashi) and was mastered by Joe Lambert (catalog includes Animal Collective, Local Natives, The Black Crowes).

The Old Prospectors formed in late 2015 from some shared connections around the local Riverwest scene and music community. With influences across the broad spectrums of funk and psych rock, the first informal jam sessions materialized into more complex compositions. Writing songs without vocals pushed the band to draw from strong progressive rock influences while leaving room for improvisation.
