Sulle tracce dell’arcinemico Mefisto, che gli ha rapito il figlio Kit e il pard Carson, Tex ne rintraccia il covo, un’oscura fortezza scavata nella roccia dei monti dell’arcobaleno, riuscendo ad espugnarlo con l’aiuto dei suoi guerrieri Navajos capitanati da Tiger Jack.

Gettati all’inseguimento di Bill Cassidy, Red Curry e Sam Tracy, tre rapinatori che nel loro ultimo colpo hanno seminato morte e devastazione nella cittadina di Yucca Flat, Tex, Kit e Carson devono separarsi per braccare ognuno la propria preda che, sentendosi il sale sulla coda…

ex penetra nella fortezza del Leopardo Nero, ma la sua incursione viene scoperta troppo presto e Kit, nel tentativo di aiutarlo a fuggire, viene catturato.

Dal comando giunge un nuovo incarico: “El Rey” sta mettendo a soqquadro la Sonora… Tex e Carson, prima ancora di giungere a Hermosillo, loro destinazione, hanno un lungo scontro a fuoco con alcune bande di pericolosi guerriglieri al soldo del feroce bandito!

Un dispaccio di Kit Carson porta Tex a Springerville: nella pericolosa regione del Tonto River, si sta verificando una serie di furti di bestiame, a opera della banda guidata da Kid Billy. Non basterà fermare gli uomini del Kid per mettere fine alla sparizione delle mandrie, ma la giustizia dovrà essere ristabilita con gragnuole di piombo bollente, all’indirizzo dei destinatari dei capi rubati…

In una delle gole selvagge del Rainbow Canyon, in Arizona, il giustiziere solitario Tex è inseguito dallo sceriffo e i suoi uomini. Ma quando la sua pista si incrocia con quella della giovane indiana Tesah, il fuorilegge rimane coinvolto in una pericolosa caccia al tesoro. Dovrà impedire che, grazie al “Segno del Totem”, il bieco John Coffin si impadronisca del tesoro dei Pawnee!

This "two-fer" reissue pairs up two of Joe Tex's classic Atlantic Records albums on one CD, "Hold What You've Got" and "The New Boss". Stylistically, both albums were just a bit off the beaten path from the bulk of Tex's mid-1960's work; his sense of humor (always bubbling beneath the surface) came into the forefront on "Hold What You've Got", while "The New Boss" focused new emphasis on Tex's obvious fondness for country music. The CD helps to play up the C&W leanings of "The New Boss" with four additional bonus tracks in a decidedly twangy mode, including fine versions of "Make The World Go Away" and "Just Out Of Reach". The remastering is clear and bright, making the most of Buddy Killen's fine production, and while these two albums each have a decidedly different mood, they compliment each other well, and this is a fine presentation of material from Tex's first era of hits; well worth a spin.

Patricia Vonne (née Rodriguez) is an American singer and actress. A native of San Antonio, Texas, Vonne moved to New York City in 1990-2001 to pursue her artistic ambitions. She worked extensively in Europe and America and was featured in the film Sin City as Dallas (aka Zorro Girl) & national/international commercials, and film work. She formed her own musical band, which performed on the New York circuit from 1998-2001. She then relocated to her native Texas where she currently tours extensively in the U.S., Mexico and Europe. She toured as a member of Tito & Tarantula, the band featured in the film From Dusk Till Dawn in 2002. Her song, "Traeme Paz", was featured in the film Once Upon a Time in Mexico. Her song "Mudpies and Gasoline" is featured in the Quentin Tarantino presented film Hell Ride. She is the sister of Angela Lanza, Marcel Rodriguez and Robert Rodriguez.
