HOME can be seen both as a homage to and as a statement of belonging to northern Norway, with it's naked landscape and it's Arctic location. The title can also allude to a quest for identity, both from a personal and from an artistic perspective. All these sentiments and aspirations find expression in the music on this album. Many of the pieces here are interpretations of well-known themes, while others are original compositions by Hoff. Some of the pieces are completely improvisatory.

The astonishing Judee Sill was the first artist signed to David Geffen’s Asylum Records, and Judee Sill the first album released on the label. Sill’s music is intensely spiritual, redolent of both mysticism and divine imagery, yet grounded by great songwriting and a pure but powerful singing talent. Her songs impart incredible intimacy that is enhanced and not diminished by her sometimes complex string/orchestral arrangements (remarkably Sill arranged and conducted the strings/orchestra on her albums!).

Her songs impart incredible intimacy that is enhanced and not diminished by her sometimes complex string/orchestral arrangements (remarkably Sill arranged and conducted the strings/orchestra on her albums!). Sill’s life was tragic personally and professionally. Her father and brother were killed when Sill was young, and her tempestuous relationship with her alcoholic (and remarried) mother resulted in her leaving home at 15. She committed robberies and began a battle she was destined to lose against drug addiction. When stardom didn’t follow the critical acclaim of these two albums her career never recovered. Sill was dead in 1979 at just 35. The brevity of Judee’s musical legacy is vastly outweighed by the emotional power in these two extraordinary albums. Judee Sill and Heart Food are Mastered DIRECT-TO-DSD from the original analog master tapes by Kevin Gray at CoHEARent Audio. The master tapes are in fine shape, and listeners will be blown away by the increased inner detail and three-dimensionality of these achingly gorgeous recordings.

in 1974, the Eagles released their third studio album, an LP that earned them their first - but certainly not their last - hit single.
Produced by Glynn Johns ("You Never Cry Like a Lover" and "Best of My Love") and Bill Szymczyk (everything else) during sessions at Record Plant Studios in Los Angeles and Olympic Studios in London, ON THE BORDER was the first Eagles album with guitarist Don Felder in the lineup, but it could have been a very different album if the guys in the band hadn't tired of Johns' efforts to play country in their rock. Johns' argument was, "The Who is a rock and roll band, and you're not," and you can imagine how well that went over. After working with Johns in London for six weeks, the Eagles returned to L.A., where they teamed up with Szymczyk, and it was during those sessions that Felder joined the band. Admittedly, he joined rather late, so he can only be heard on two tracks - "Good Day in Hell" and "Already Gone" - but it was enough to make a name for himself and be officially accepted into the band.
