Enrico Rava is a prolific jazz trumpeter and arguably one of the best known Italian jazz musicians. He originally played trombone, changing to the trumpet after hearing Miles Davis. In this recording Rava presents his own interpretations of operatic arias and overtures from Carmen.

Maltese e Moncada sono due fra i più importanti musicisti jazz che la Sicilia abbia avuto negli ultimi decenni, e suonano insieme sin dall’82. «Monadi», è il il titolo del progetto che presenteranno a Messina, tratto da una loro pubblicazione monumentale che comprende 4 CD, uscita nel 2017 per Labirinti Sonori, attraverso la quale “danno voce alla loro fratellanza artistica” come scrive il critico Alberto Bazzurro sulla rivista Musica Jazz. In questo concerto Stefano Maltese suonerà sax soprano, alto, e tenore; saxello, C Melody sax, flauti, clarinetto, clarinetto basso, pianoforte, percussioni, mentre Antonio Moncada sarà alla batteria e alle percussioni.

Ferdinando Faraò nato il 06/08/1959. Autodidatta, ha iniziato la propria attività verso la fine degli anni settanta entrando in contatto con la scena del jazz a Milano e in particolare al Capolinea. Gli anni seguenti lo hanno visto nei gruppi di Claudio Fasoli, Tiziana Ghiglioni, Tango Seis con i quali ha partecipato a diversi festivals nazionali ed internazionali, rassegne, clubs, trasmissioni radiofoniche-televisive e a concerti con importanti ospiti come Paolo Fresu, Steve Lacy, Enrico Rava e Gianluigi Trovesi.

At the beginning of the '80s, trumpeter Paolo Fresu attended the Siena Summer Jazz Seminars and amazed Enrico Rava with his creativity, talent, and technique. Over the next ten years, he became a major player on the Italian scene, first with his own quintet (which is still going), then branching out in a variety of projects. After finishing his Conservatory studies, he became a teacher at the same Jazz Seminars in Siena; he lives half the year in Paris, from where he coordinates the major Time in Jazz Festival he created in his hometown. His discography numbers an astonishing 130 titles since he's been invited to play all over Europe in a variety of projects, from contemporary music to straight jazz, from dance to jazz/folk fusions.
