2016 collection containing remixes of five of the major hits by international hitmakers Tavares by top European remix producer Ben Liebrand, four of which achieved major British chart impact when issued in 1985 and 1986 as well as a US disco version of 'It Only Takes A Minute', making it's CD debut along with the Liebrand-penned instrumental 'One Minute'. From 1973 to 1981, the brothers Tavares - Ralph, Feliciano ("Butch") Arthur ("Pooch") Antone (Chubby) and Perry (Tiny) - recorded a treasure trove of great albums and singles for Capitol Records. In 1975, the group enjoyed it's first breakthrough hit with 'It Only Takes A Minute'; in 1976, the timeless classic 'Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel' became the team's first global smash followed by 'Don't Take Away The Music' also became an international dance music/pop and R&B chartmaker. In 1977, the Bee Gees-penned 'More Than A Woman' (from the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack) catapulted Tavares back into the worldwide charts as did 'Whodunit'.

"Madam Butterfly" is the 7th album by American soul/R&B group Tavares, produced by Bobby Martin and released in 1979 on the Capitol label. By this stage in the group's career, they had become known as a disco act due to successful singles such as "Heaven Must Be Missing an Angel", "Whodunit" and "More Than a Woman." However, Madam Butterfly is noted for its lack of anything approaching disco material, and, as such, is considered to be more akin in style to the group's 1973-'75 albums than to their '76-'78 Freddie Perren-produced output.

Digitally re-mastered and expanded edition. Following the success of their best-selling album for Capitol records, Sky High, the Tavares brothers (Ralph, Tiny, Pooch, Chubby and Butch) reunited with that LP's producer, (former Motown staffer) Freddie Perren for their 1977 set, Love Storm. The New Bedford, Massachusetts-based family quintet had been building a solid audience for themselves after signing with Capitol in 1972: after initial success as R&B hit-makers, Tavares began reaching mainstream record buyers in the US with their second and third albums.

A Brazilian duo with a really wonderful sound – one that manages to merge acoustic instrumentation, vocal harmonies, and some light electric touches – all with a sound that's both jazzy and folksy at the same time! Edu Passeto and Gui Tavares have this unique vibe that maybe reminds us a bit of some of the Quarto Records material at the end of the 60s – and a warmth that might put them somewhere in the territory of Joyce – but, as with so many one of a kind Brazilian records from the golden years, there's something going on here that's very much its own – and which makes this obscure indie treasure the kind of record you'll keep going back to over the years, finding something new every time. Titles include "Vento Me Traz", "Canto Livre", "Heroi De Jornal", "Noite Que Brincou De Lua", "Seguir", and "Menino De Pindorama".

Supercharged is similar in style to the group's previous album Madam Butterfly, and although not as highly regarded at its predecessor, critical reaction is generally positive. Lead single "Bad Times" reached the R&B top 10 and #47 on the pop chart, the group's first showing on that chart since "More Than a Woman" in 1977. Supercharged made #20 on the R&B chart and #75 on the pop chart.

In the clarity and elegance of its nine tracks, the music of Rodrigo Tavares in Congo seems to inhabit a very peculiar time and space, where the constructive rigour of the compositions, based on the contraction and expansion of some minimal elements, isn’t in any way incompatible with the air of perky lightness that the performance suggests.
