Te Mesia

New Zealand born soprano Kiri Te Kanawa is of Maori descent. Her earliest vocal studies were with Sister Maria Leo in Auckland. She won the Melbourne Sun contest and went to London where she studied with Vera Rozsa at the London Opera Center. It was there that she first appeared on stage as the second lady in Die Zauberflöte of Mozart. In 1969, she sang Elena in Rossini's La donna del lago at the Camden Festival.

Voices from the depths On Henrik Ødegaard´s album Te lucis ante terminum, voices from the Gregorian tradition meet a new, modern musical language in an organic, but nonetheless refreshing and unpredictable way. Ødegaard has engrossed himself in Gregorian chant and written several works that have taken their inspiration from the Gregorian tradition and from Catholic liturgy, and filter voices from the depths of our western vocal tradition through his own finely tuned means of expression.

This ultimate collection showcases an artist with such diversity and a voice like no other. As she approaches her 70th Birthday, she clearly shows no signs of slowing down. Indeed, she will be appearing on the 3rd Series of TV series Downton Abbey, starring as Dame Nellie Melba.

Throughout his life, Felix Mendelssohn harboured a strong love-hate relationship with the Berlin Sing-Akademie, where, as a singer and student of the director Carl Friedrich Zelter, he got to know important works of Italian vocal polyphony of the 16th and 17th centuries.

BAM released the CD “Te Deum, op.30” by Antonello Rizzella in may 2018. The album has been made in collaboration with Coro da Camera del Conservatorio di Como, directedy by Domenico Innominato, and Coro femminile Clara Wieck, directed by Stefano Stefanoni.
