Recently the fifth album in a great series of unique live recordings was released by the former Dutch Jazz Archive (now: MCN) in its series Jazz at the Concertgebouw. Previous releases contained live recordings by Chet Baker (1955), Gerry Mulligan (1956), J.J. Johnson (1957) and Sarah Vaughan (1958), all originally recorded by Lou Van Rees, then Holland's most well-known producer. The Mengelberg-Noordijk album is the first one which features a Dutch quartet, a legendary group with a certain presence: the Misha Mengelberg - Piet Noordijk Quartet.

After wearing out Delmark's 2003 set celebrating 50 years of great jazz you probably thought you were going tohave to wait at least until 2013 for another such anniversary collection but when you've got a rich catalog like Delmark's and a label head like Bob Koester who is committed to keep expanding that catalog, why not seize every opportunity to throw a party for your enterprise-and all the great artists behind the candles on the cake? CD features Coleman Hawkins, Sun Ra, George Lewis, Curtis Fuller, Deep Blue Organ Trio, Francine Griffin and more. DVD features Nicole Mitchell, Ari Brown, Fred Anderson, Chicago Underground Trio and more.

Herbie Hancock's edition in the Columbia This Is Jazz series draws six tracks from the approximately 12-year period between 1974 and 1986. An electric band is featured on half of the selections, including "Gentle Thoughts" from Secrets, "Actual Proof" from Thrust, and "Calypso" from Mr. Hands. These aren't exactly the best tracks from Hancock's electric period, and the acoustic portion – covering "The Sorcerer" from a 1981 V.S.O.P. performance in Tokyo, the live duet "Maiden Voyage" by Hancock and Chick Corea, and "The Peacocks" from the 1986 film 'Round Midnight – are similarly erratic. All of the selections on This Is Jazz are good, but it doesn't make much sense to feature such a scattered set of tracks.

Bad Witch is the upcoming ninth studio album by American industrial rock band Nine Inch Nails, scheduled for release on June 22, 2018 through The Null Corporation. It will be the band's first full-length release since Hesitation Marks (2013). Bad Witch's announcement came simultaneously with that of the Cold and Black and Infinite North America 2018 Tour, for which Nine Inch Nails will be touring with The Jesus and Mary Chain.
